The newspaper's proprietor until 1906 was W. Lloyd Roberts, with John Daniel Davies and Company taking ownership in the same year. Davies (1874-1948) was also to edit the newspaper, with Robert Owen Hughes (Elfyn, 1858-1919) another notable editor.
