THE Morning Chronicle has reduced its price to 2d., and the Dublin Daily Express comes down from 3d. to one penny. ANTICIPATED LOCK-OUT OF SOUTH YOEKSHIH* COLLIERs.-One of the largest and most influen- tial meetings of colliery proprietors which has probably been held "in Soutn Yorkshire, took place on Friday, at the King's Head Hotel, Barnsley-J. Chambers, Esq., in the chair. The greatest unanimity prevailed; and it was agreed that, whilst the masters had no wish to interfere with the colliers* union, they could not allow themselves to be struck against seriatim; but if the men at present on striks at West Silkstone, the Strafford Main, Smftfcy Bridge, and R. C. Clarke, Esqr.'s collieries, resulted work on the old terms, the matter would be ended; if not, then notices should be given by all colliery proprietors on the 16th and 18th inst. to the whole of their men' so that the collieries would be set down o& the 16th and 18th of July. DEPARTURE OF THE "GBBAT EASTERN."— The Great Eastern left her moorings at 7.45 on Sunday morning, and proceeded on her voyage to America. The run to New York is expected to be accomplished in ten days the "Adriatic" has just made a return voyage from New York to Southampton, and the Persia" te Queens- town in ten days, and considering the relative amount of horse power and tonnage of these vessels, as compared with those of the Great Eastern, her reaching New York within the period named will be regarded as a satisfactory achievement. The speed she was originally ex- pected to attain was fourteen knots an hour, and if this speed was not fully accomplished during the recent experimental trip, the result may be fairly attributed to extraneous causes and ob- stacles which will in due time be obviated. The New York pilot, Mr. Murphy, was well satisfied with the capabilities of the vessel during the last trial, on Saturday week, ard anticipates no difficulty in taking her over the bar at Sandy Hook. Thirty-six passengers, including several ladies, will brave the perils, if any, of the first voyage. The majority of the passengers are Americans. Mr. Gooch and Captain Carnegie, R.N., two of the directors, alio go out in the ship. Mr. Bowyer, the pilot, left the Great Eastern three miles outside the Needles, at 10, JO a. m., proceeding on her passage; all well.
