NANTGLYN. IN MEMORIAM.—No doubt our readers will be very pleased to hear that a new tombstone or monu- ment has just been placed on the grave of the cele- brated Bardd Xantglyn." The stone that was on the grave previously had become worn, and Messrs. Meilir Owen, J.P., Maeshefin (of the family of the late Dr. W. 0. Pughe). and Mr. Griffith Jones (Ell- deyrn) thought the present year an advantageous one to collect subscriptions towards putting a new stone on the grave of the old worthy. Their appeal for subscriptions was cordially responded to, and the result is that a most handsome stone, three yards high, with an urn at the top, made of Denbigh red limestone, has been placed on the grave. The work was entrusted to Mr. Thomas Roberts, mason railway station, Denbigh, and the way in which he carried it out has caused general satisfaction. The stone bears, in addition to the inscription and "englynion" on the previous stone, the following words "Er cof am Robert Davies, Bardd Nant- glyn, a aned 1783, a fu farw 1835. Codwyd y gareg hon trwy danysgrifiadau yn mlwyddyn y Jubili. 1887."
