SUMMARY OF NRWS. The funeral of Mr Bulkeley Hughes, late member for the Carnarvon Bor- oughs, took place on Tuesday at Llan- cdwen, Anglesey, and was largely at- tended. The Liberal Committee subsequently met and selected as their candidate Mr Jones-Parry, who for- merly represented the county. Up to the hour of going to press the Conser- tives have failed to fix upon a candi- date. The Mayor of Carnarvon has recei ved the writ for a new election, and has fixed the nomination day for Wednes- day next, the polling, if any, to take place on the following Tuesday. An application was, made on Wed- nesday to the Mayor of Carnarvon on behalf of Mr Sorton-Parry, one of the parliamentary candidates for the bor- oughs, for a summons for libel against Mr Darbishire, the chairman of the Liberal Association. His worship refrained from coming to any decision, and directed that the application should be made in open court on Monday. At a meeting of the general committee of the Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Society on Wednesday last it was decided to hold this year's show at Rhyl on the ist of August. A complaint has been made to the Holywell School Board that the cor- poral punishment inflicted by the master cuid mistress of the boys' and girls' school, Bagillt,was unnecessarily severe. The matter is to be investi- gated.
