PARLIAMENTARY BUSINESS- I Considering that the session com- ¡ menced on the 7th of last month, the J progress, or, rather, non-progress of parliamentary business is very fat from satisfactory to the public. There has been an immense expenditure of time, with practically little or nothing to show for it, especially over three matters, each of more or less import" ance, but the discussion of which iØ the aggregate has really effected nothing, and has left the House of Commons, after the lapse of nearly si weeks, with extremely little to shovil for its labours. There have been very lengthy discussions on three matterS, to two of which a great deal of ufl" necessary debate was devoted, while the third was utterly unexpected at the beginning of the session. These are the Address on the Speech* the Bradlaugh affair, and the House of Lords' Committee on the Irish Land Act. As to the Urst, it must have been known all along that opposition to the Address would be utterly*futile>
