LLANGADOCK. TEMPERANCE DKMOXSTRATIOX AND EISTEDDI'OD.—A most successful temperance demonstration, organised by the Becliabite Tent, was made at the above place on Good Friday and under the same auspices (tho Rechabite) an eisteddfod was hold at the Board Schoolroom the same evening, which also proved a complete success. The eisteddfod was presided over by Mr D. Evans, district councillor, of Gwynfe, and never were the duties of a chairman more efficiently and genially performed than they were on this occasion by Mr Evans. The list of competitions with the awards is as follows :—Alto solo, Ble uiao fy Machgen?" -NI 0 i Jones, Llangadock recitation, Wreck of the Hesperus," best, Miss Mary Allen, L'angadoek; duett (for children under 15), two parties competed, viz, M isses Morgan, Gwynfe, and Messrs H. Howells and D. Morgan, Gwynfe, and the prize was divided between them soprano solo (two competitors), best, Miss Selina Williams, Llanwrda three stanzas on The Uechabites" (12 competitors), prize divided between Mr T. Ll. Williams, Penrhiw, Gwynfe, and Mr W. Jones, Gilfach, Llan- wrda; party of eight, "Pan gilia'r Niwl" (three parties), Mr T. LI. AVilliams and party, Gwynfe; recitation, "Charge of the Light Brigade," Mr T. Jones, Wevngelli, Llansadwrn; tenor solo, "Bwthyn bach melyn fy Nhad (one competitor), ifr Isaac Morgan, Gwynfe, to whom the prize was awarded; quartette, Blodeuyn Bach" (D. Jenkins), best, Mr Gwilym Jones and party, Gwynfe; bass solo, "lien Hafod Elwy" (one competitor), Mr J. Rees, Llansadwrn, to whom the prize was awarded recitation, Y bont ar dan," prize divided between Mr James Evans, Coach and Horses, and Mr T. Thomas, Ffosddu; party (not under 16), "Y Ffrwd" (Gwilym Gwent), one party competed, viz., the Gwynfe party, conducted by Mr Sasac Morgan, Glandwr Factory, and I the party was fully worthy of the prize duett, "Y ddeden ar y IIi" (two competitors), prize divided between two Llansadwrn parties; impromptu speech, best, Mr T. Hopkins; chief choral competi- tion, Comrades' Song of Hopo (for male voices), three choirs competed, viz., Llan- gadock, under Mr J. F. Morgan, C.M. Gwynfe, under Mr J. Williams, C.M.; and Llansadwrn, Hermon, and Llanwrda (United), under Mr Evans, Troedyrhiw. The Gwynfo Choir was adjudicated an easy winner, both by adjudicator and audience, and to it was awarded the prize. This brought a highly successful eisteddfod to a close. One hears tho remark made, that as the chairman of the present eisteddfod was a Gwynfe man, and the great majority of the competitors and winners of prizes were also Gwynfe folks, the Rechabites of Llan- gadock might just as well hold their eisteddfod too at Gwynfe in future.
