Lodger and Landlord at Ynyshir. A PECULIAR ASSAULT CASE. Before Mr Ignatius Williams and Dr T. W. Parry, at the Porth Police Court on Thursday, Aaron Rogers, an Ynyshir collier, was charged with assaulting another Ynyshir collier, named George Henry Jones. Mr T. Phillips, solicitor, Pentre, appeared for the defence. The evidence for the prosecution was to the eeffct that the complainant lodged with defen- dant, and had been saying in the pit that de- fendant cwed a lot of money to different people. Early on the morning of the 28th of June, they were coming from work, when defendant asked complainant what he had been saying in the pit about him (defend). Complainant replied that he had not said anything, whereupon defen- dant struck him in the face. Jones tnen ran away, and was followed by defendant, who again struck him, causing him to fall against a fence. Complainant then became unconscious, and was carried to Dr Lennon's surgery. In cross-examination by Mr T. Phillips, Jones admitted that he was subject to fits, but denied that it was a fit that overcame him. Complain- ant admitted that he ran away to pick up a stone to throw at defendant. Edward Evans gave evidence, and said that defendant only struck Jones onoo. Witness also said that when Jones ran away, he fell down against a rail and injured his head by falling. Dr Lennon gave evidence of having examined complainant, and finding him unconscious.
