A Wounding Case at Pontypridd. At the Pontypridd Police Court on Wednes- day, John Abbott, butcher, Pontypridd, was charged with wounding Austin Thomas, butcher, Fcntvpridd, on Saturday, the 13th inst. Mr D. Roberts-Rosser, solictor, Pontypridd, defended. Complainant stated he was in Pontypridd market about 10.10 on the night in question, anrl there he saw the defendant in Mr Edwin Phil- lips-' stall. He had a conversation with him, and asked him 'How are you, Abbotty." The de- fendant then rushed at him .and witness pushed him back. Defendant then fetched a long butoher's knife, and slashed at him. Witness stepped batk, but the point of the knife entered, his throat, marking his neck. He had not had a quarrel with the defendant, but some time P.t3 thy had a few words, but no blows were struck. Joseph Palmer corroborated. For the defence evidence was given by Hop- kin Hopkins, who said Thomas first strwek Ab- bott, and the latter held up the knife ie front of him, and Thomas ran against it. Abbott was fined l and costs.
