DENBIGH SCHOOL BOARD. PUPIL TEACHERS' EXAMINATION. TO THE EDITOR OF THE NORTH WALES TIMES." SIR, I find in your last issue that there are a few discrepancies in your report of the above at the last School Board Meeting. I presented four teachers at the examination at Rhyl. Two of these passed in every subject, the third passed in every subject but two, and the fourth did badly. Mr. Roberts, n.M..I. of Schools, told me that the work of some of my Pupil Teach- ers was some of the best in the whole district, which includes the Counties of Denbigh and Flint, The first paper that was set was In C, Arithmetic. It was so full of intricacies that the Inspector, Mr. Turnbull, who set the ques- tions, has been reproved by several bodies of teachers throughout the country, and the Edu- cation Department has been obliged to revise the papers. This most difficult test-paper at the commencement would naturally intefere with the enthusiasm and vigour of the Pupil Teachers to cope with the remaining papers. Again, I find from enquiry that the remark about the Pupil Teachers walking the streets was not applied to the young men under my supervision. The two teachers who gained a very successful pass live in the town. They are evidently making the best use of their time or else their reports would have been unfa. vourable. The third, who also did very well, and the fourth, who did badly, live out of town, and leave by train as soon aslessonsare finished, so they are not to be seen walking the streets. I sincerely hope that you will insert this letter in this week's North Wales Times, in justice to myself and teachers. I am, Dear Sir, Yours truly, EDWARD JOlIN ROBERTS. Cliff House, Love Lane, teb. 3rd. [The report of the School Board meeting which we published last week, and to which Mr. Roberts alludes, is, as a report, correct in every particular.
