But in our record of I the passing of our dear elderly friend, Mrs Humphreys, The Gables, it is not I premature—it is the full ripe shock of I cnm falling. ,i nd beautiful was she in How sweet and beautiful was she in these declining years. Those who were privileged to meet her and hold con- verse with her felt what a glorious thing it is to live a righteous life, for even in old age it; brings forth fruit—of love, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Mrs Humphreys was born and brought up at Brwynilyna, near Harlech. Her father, the late Mr John Lloyd, of Cwmbychan, was highly esteemed and respected for his many sterliug quali- ties. "His daughter, the subject of these notes, was united in holy wedlock in 1851, and the union lasted for the long period of Gl years. Of the marriage twelve children were born-nine still survive their mother. Five of the children live in the United States of America, and four in Great Britain. Two of the children happily are with us in Barmouth, viz,, the Rev. E. Vaughan Humphreys, who renders such signal services, not only among the Free Churches of our town, but in the larger area of the Free Churches of North Wales. A man loved and admired on account of his transperent Christian character and keen spiritual insight. Also Nurse Humphreys, who gave up a lucrative post as hospital nurse, to devote herself to her aged parents—a lady highly respected in our midst, and who with the grace and the charm of those trained to succour the afflicted, ministers to many. Twelve years ago, Mrs Humphreys and her late husband came to reside at the Gables, and. in this time they endeared .themselves to all who knew them.
