Kerr and Alfred Bright, and two charges were preferred against William Williams (whi> surrendered to bail), first of assault- ing the four Frenchmen, whose case has already been detailed, and next of cruelly illtreating two bears. Milson Simmonds, labourer, said that he saw the prisoner Williams among the crowd attacking the bears. At Ruardeari prisoner went to a garden and got a pole, with which he struck one of tha foreigners on his shoulders. — The little bear that wa, killed wuii stones was despatched at Ruardean Pike, and the other that was shot at and stabbed died at the rear of Bishop's Wood.
