It may be necessary to remind some of our readers, that by the act every 1 waggon should be provided with a slipper for the wheel, which we believe is not generally knowo, at least not atfenoed to, and as its use is equally beneficial to the road and ihe Waggon, the omis- sion is highly blameable. The alteration in this act must he gratifying to the farmers* as they re- lieve them from the heavy expenses the first enactments entailed upon them, and great praise enactments entailed upon them, and great praise Is, due to the exertions of those who have pro- cured the necessary amendments. CAUTION to FARMERS AND OritKRs.—By the Act of Parliament lately passed for explain- ing and amending the general Act relative to Turnpike noads. the owners of every waggon, wain, caft, or other stlch carriage, are required from and after the first dllY of October next, to paint, or caue to he painted, in one or more straight line or lines, upon some conspicuous par! of the right-or offside of his, her, or their waggon, wain,, cart, or other such carriage, or Upon the off side shafts thereof, before the same shall he used, his, her, or their christian add surname, and the place of his, her, oriheir, abode, or the christian and surname aod place of abode of the principal partner or owner thereof, in large legible letters, not less than one inch in height; and continue the same thereupon so long as such waggon, wain, cart, or oiher such car- riage shall he used upon any such turnpike-road, udder the forfeiture, for every such offence, <>f a sum not exceeding Jive pounds.—And by the said' Act it is provided, that any person or persons, having fhecare of any waggon, or wain, cart, or other snch carriage conveying goods for hire or reward, or for sale* on any turnpike-road, shall not chun or fasten any dog thitt tuay, be attend- ing him* or them on such road, to such waggon, wain, cart, or carriage, every persona offending shall forfeit and pay "any sum not exceeding twenty shillings.
