I OAKWOOD PIT BOYS ON STRIKE I A somewhat peculiar condition of things has arisen at the Oakwood Colliery, near Port Talbot, through the boys employed thoro to the number of 30, coming out on strike, demanding advances. On Satur- day and Monday last the eolliers t hem- selves came out on strike on the pica that they were not receiving the advance tinder the now agreement. This dispute was settled by referring to the Concilia- tion Board. The boys now claim that whereas the collier is being paid the new agreement advance they are not receiving a corresponding increase. The result is that, the older boy? have picket-ted the, colliery, ;vid 30 boys are out on strike, and the work of the colliery is considerably hampcred

Pemberton, Burry- port, was summoned for having in her possession dn September 23rd for use for trade, an unjust weight.—Inspector J. Jones stated that he tested the weights and found one lh. weight to be 10 drams short. A grandson of the defendant said-that defendant, who was 8,9 years of age, had carried on the hu.sint-s for 60 years, and customers had placed implicit faith ui her. He added lhat his grandmother was quite ignorant that the weight in ques- tion was short. A nominal fine of 5s. was imposed.
