J For the Ladies. THE COMING FASHIONS Designs and Patterns of Beautiful Dresses. (BY MADAME GWENDOLINE HOPE.) From time,to aine, as one or the other country finds itself in the public eye, the colourings peculiar to a certain nation- ality become adopted, and for a period are ail the vogue. At the moment the mix- ture of hades affeclad by Kumaniis are the fashion, and H inn anion colours in wool adorn many of the rioot mod'eh jumpers, being us-ad as a border. In pre- paration for the chilly days ahead, nearly every wornan is employing herself in mak- ing a knitted coat, and some are border- ing these oosy garments wilh the colour scheme above noted. Ther-e kni'ttod coats are an expensive item to purchase, and even made at home they are not cheap: but the hand-knitted kind has about three tinnzs the wearing qualities of the one purchased at the shops. A PRETTY FROCK. The dainty little frock illustrated is made of figured silk, covered with an apron-like bumc of georgette. The fclaeves are made to match. Plain and fancy voile make a beautiful combination. The neck ig cut low and round, and i» com- pleted by a dainty little frill. The girdle is passed through slots and fastened loosely. The sleeves are rery full to below the elbow, narrowing in at the wrists, and finished by a fir 11 to match that at the neck. An original feature is the adorning oi thi? apron-like tunic with a tassel at each corner. A TAILORED BLOUSE. The tailored blouse in the sketch is of the eeverely-cut variety, and has the gmart high co:lar and turn-over stock. Box-pleats trim the back as well as the front. Aa to materials, and Jrto eilk suggest thamseives aa very suitable. The blouse is cut wtA the American shoulder-yob?, and the very severe eleevee are set in perfectly plainly, finishing with little buttoned cuffa ths. correspond with the box-pleats. FROCK FOR A LITTLE GIRL. A very useful frock for a maiden is illustrated here; to be made of v()He or &ilk, and trimmed with a band of a con- trasting colour. The overskirt is original, and very m(HFsh, The ouk of the bodice part is quite unusual, too, the saeh pars- ing under the largs flap," and then being drawn loosely to the back. The sweet little fdeevos follow the cut of the round collar. The &kirt is very short. The pretty summer bait email made- moiselle is dangling would be a 6W table accompaniment.
