No. I.-Old Jones and His Can. it v. tisu t a child, 'twas an old, old man, That damaged old Jones's milking cans; And old Jones Conyn had a raging temper, So with a face as red as wall distemper, Off lie ran in a terrible haste, As if his legs were made of paste, To catch the man who damaged his canSj And with his eves as big as frying-pans, j Up he came into the river, And husiiy chewing a piece of liver, And there old Jones espied the man Who damaged his precious milking cans. Nc. 2.—Little Gwen. My sister d-ear is little Gwen. She-s so pleasant to us all, That all the writing of this pen Could not sing her praises all. How she laughs and talks and runs, Right through the house each day; She is always full of fun, Thus driving care away.. Off to school from day to day, An<i then she's e'er in time; She will never stay away, The example she sets is fine. S'hr is so generous and loving, She makes us love her so So if I were to write more about lier, Though un-met, you'd love her too- Now. I tHiink I'd better finish Writing about my sister Gwen, But if you come down to Gorseinon, Well; Uncle John. you'd see her then I hope I have not taken up too much of your time, so I conclude with best wishes, from your loving niece. BACKACHE AND SORE KIDNEYS…
BACKACHE AND SORE KIDNEYS ARE DUE TO ACIDITY. "Drink a strongly alkaline water to neutralise the acids and fiush the kidneys. Then the pains must go," says noted medical authority. Xot one per.-on in a hundred lfus-hes the kiin^ys often enough, or knows how to do it prjpc-riy. -Not one in five hundred over tho age of forty understands how eat-ily kidney neglect can lead to serious rheu- matism. gout, sciatica, or even such dreaded maladies as Bright's Disease, Dry, or Diabetes. It is astonishing how few. persons, excepting chouikts and the medical profession., understand that the water we drink must reach the kidneys by first being absorbed into i,he biood, and that if the water is strongly alkaline it thoroughly flushes the kidneys when being expelled, taking with it the acids and im- purities it has absorbed in the blood. This I is why the strongly alkaline water of famous hot springs are so effective. Kid- ney, rheumatic, or uric acid sufferers can easily prove this to their complete Mtis- 'faction and without stirring a single step from their own homes. Simply drink be- fore breakfast every other morning, for a week or two, a' glass of hot water in which you have dissolved a level teaspoonful of the Alkia Saltrates (powder form), which a.U ohemits can supply. Its taste is pleasant, its cost very slight indeed, and it probably is as good as anything you can use for the purpose. Afterward, you will not be likely to have much patience with any of your friends if they continue to suffer after you have told them about this.-A. L.

STRONG SOLDIER MADE A WRECK.
STRONG SOLDIER MADE A WRECK. I Four Years' Stomach Torture. I WONDERFUL KER-NAK CURE. I The sensational cure of a 6ick-r:;dden soldier in France has brought into promi- nence a new kind of pill called Ker-nak. As this man, a Londoner, was rescued from chronic indigestion and bowel trouble that gave him four years absolute torture, it is net too much to describe the new remedy as a truly remarkable cue. oi ??. I was a real wreck,? says Mr. W. H. Biden, 10, Winfrith-road, Wandsworth, S.W., and for fmir years suffered awful agony from chronic indigestion. Oi-.t in France as a Remount Driver I suffered torments from splitting headaches that made my existence a real misery. My bowols-were all out of order. I was ter- ribly low-spirited and gradully lost all strength and energy. The M.O. couldn't dure me and my condition went from bad to worse. I took all kinds of tablets and other medicines sent out by my wife. Whilst at home on leave I had to have hot flannels applied to my stomach to ease the tearing partus. Then, one day, I chanced to read a newspaper account of Ker-nak Pills, which seemed to be just the sort of tonic remedy I needed. So I got my wife to fend somp out to me. The first effect of Kpr-nak was to set my bowels right. Mvnd you, the pills didn't purge—just soothing and natural like. I used to hate the sight of food, but m a little while Iver-nak Pills so im- proved my appetite that I could eat heartily. The old gnawing pains in my stomach went away, I picked up splendidly, and felt in better health and spirits altogether. Soon I was actually playing in the Re- mpunt Football Team, so completely had Ker-nak Pills cured me. I am now de- mobilised, and for months have kept in splendid health-brimful of energy and as fit as a Riddle." Mrs. Biden bore out her husband's statements, and added that she, herself, had derived greet benefit from the Ker- nak Pills, which eiie termed as their ever-reliable Homo Medicine." Ker-nak Pills are obtainable of all chemists and drug stores, or direct from I the Ker-nak Natural Remedy, Ltd., Jowitt Lane, Leeds, at one-and-thres or three shillings a box.
