Bartlett Bros., contractors, Carmarthen. met his death under tragic circumstances on Tuesday. lie was taking his horse out to a field behind his premises. wilen it kicked him on the head rear the temple, and Mr. Bartlett passed away later in the day. About 50 years of age, the late Mr. Bartlett was an untiring church worker, and was churchwarden at St. John's Church, secretary of the Sunday school for many years, ami a faithful chorister, He was in partnership with his brother, as contractors. Deceased leaves a widow and two children.

FELLOW LODGERS. Llandebie Quarrymen's Case Ended. Peter Hughes and Owen Jones, two Llan- debie ciua-rryme-n, ami fellow-lodgers, of Pantyrodyn House, attended Ammanford Police Court, the latter charged with steal- ing a wallet, containing £ 9, from the waistcoat pocket of the former It appears that on the Saturday in ques- tion, Hughes was injured in work, and Jones, in the evening, helped him upstairs to bed. His waistcoat, which contained the wallet and his tobacco box, fell on the candle they had, and Jones picked up the waistcoat, and gave it back. Hughgs then placed it under the pillow. An hour after- wards he went to his waistcoat pocket for the tobacco box, so as to have a smoke, and found the wallet missing. Jones vigorously denied that he had stolen the wallet, especially from a fellow- countryman," and he told P.S. Morgan, "Ei,erytbiii,- is all right now. He has had all the money back." Defendant was let off on payment of costs.

WELSH LEAGUE. Caerau Beaten v at Llanelly. Llanelly played the return match in the Welsh League with Caerau at Halfway Park on Tuesday. Bailiff returned to his position in goal, while Gough and Norris ire-appeared in the half-back line. There T.as a re-arrangement of the front rank, Reardon turning out at centre-forward, while Poyntz and Payne took up the ill- eide-right and outside-left positions re- spectively. The Scarlets gave a very poor display, and it can hardly he said of any plaver that he played in anything like I true form. IN THE DISTRICTS. 1 LANDORE. The death has taken place of Mr. Wm. Evans, of 201, Dryden's Houses, Landore, who for the last 66 years had worked at the Morfa Copper Works. By his death the district loses one of its most re- spected citizens. The funeral takes place at 3 o'clock on Thursday for Cwmgelly Cemetery. PEMBROKE. Mrs. Gibby, wife of the Mayor of Pem- broke (Mr. Joseph Gibby), died at Biers- pool, Pembroke Dock, early on Tuesday morning after only a week's illness. The Mayoress has figured prominently, along ] with her husband, in all public affairs throughout the year, and she was much esteemed by the inhabitants. The funeral will take place on Saturday next, leaving the (house at 2.30 p.m. MANSEL TON. At the usual weekly meeting of the Bethel C.M. Sunday School Guild, held last evening, a lecture was given by Mr. W. J. Owen, ex-captain of the 2nd South Lanes Regt., the subject being Out- standing Days at the Front." Mr. E. M. Lovell presided over a good attend- ance. A hearty vote of thanks, on the proposition of the pastor (the Rev. Dd. I The death occurred on Monday of a familiar Sketty lady, in the person of Miss Elizabeth Jones, of Brynteg, Tavi- skock-i-oad, at the age of 67. She was a very in-1 teresting person, very well read, and a l faithful member at Sketty Congregational Chapel, where she will be sadly missed, especially by her large Sunday School class, in which she took a great pride. A troop of Sea Scouts has just bten formed in connection with the Y.M.O.A. at Port Talbot under the leadership of ex-Petty Oilicer E. King, and already a number of ex-Navy and ex-mercantile marine men have joined. Mr. F. C. MulLns, of the Port Tal}?t Oh-avin? The whole of the mill, in both sheet and tinplate works at Dafeu are now in operation, and patent furnaces are being tested at the latter. An ample supply of water is being obtained from the neighbouring old colliery workings. MINISTER'S SUICIDE. I Sensational Occurrence at Knighton. A well-known Tsorth Radnorshire minis- ter was found hanging from a beam last night. The Rev. William Williams, whose death has ta ken place under snch tragic circumstances,- is the oldest minister in Knighton. Mr. Williams, who was held in hi"h esteem throughout Mid-Wales, was a well- known figure in the Baptist denomination, in which he had held positions of distinc- tion. An acceptable preacher and an able administrator, the Baptist churches- both of Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire were greatly indebted to him for his guid- ance as secretary of the Baptist Associa- tion for those counties. His wife survives him.
