PONTYPRIDD DISTRICT NEWS. TREORKY. FATAL ACCIDENT TO A CHILD.—On Friday, July 1st, an accident, which cast a gloom over this locality, happened to a little boy, aged 6, the son of Mr. George Thomas, A.C. By some means the unfortunate boy fell under the wheels of a passing vehicle, and was thereby crushed to death. The body was conveyed amidst the deepest feeliag to residence of the deceased's parents. Before the accident, Mr. Thomas, the father, had contemplated leading a choir at the Bridgend Eisteddfod, which was held on Monday last. PENTRE. CONCERT.—On Thursday a very successful concert was held at the Drill-hall. The programme was interesting. The following took part:—Miss Gwen Erasmus, U.C.W., Miss Devonald, Messrs. R. T. Jones (schoolmaster) and David Davies. Miss Francis and Professor E. P. Mills (Pontypridd) presided at the pianoforte. The proceeds will be given to Mrs. Rosser, widow of the late Mr. William Rosser, for many years deacon of Jerusalem Methodist Chapel, Ton. YNYSYBWL. SUNDAY SCHOOL DEMONSTRATION.—The Sun- day schools of this district held their annual demonstra- tion on Monday, the 4th inst., when a gigantic pro- cession paraded the principal thoroughfares. About mid-day the Tabernacle Sunday School, 370 strong, marshalled a procession. The other schools joining them, all singing marching hymns in the following order:—Presbyterians and Welsh Wesleyans(English), 150; Welsh Wesleyans, Noddfa Baptists (Welsh), 256 Jerusalem Welsh (C.) Methodists, 287 and Zion English Baptists, 230. Before proceeding to their respective places of worship where tea was provided, the procession halted and formed themselves into two large bodies, English and Welsh, at the Post-office- square.where some hymns were sung alternatively by the English and Welsh Schools, the former being conducted by Mr. Tom Dixon, and the latter by Mr. John Hood. After tea the Welsh assembled at Noddfa Welsh Baptist Chapel, and, under the presidency of Mr. Benjamin Edwards, grocer, a very interesting pro- gramme was gone through, which was as follows, the accompanist being Mr. D. C. Davies (Ap Cerddor):— Song, Miss R. O. Evans; recitation, Master Silas Williaras; song, Miss S. A. Lewis; recitation, Mr. Tom Rees song. Mr. John Parry address, Rev. W. B. Jones; song, Mr. E. Llewelyn; recitation, Mr. Isaac Hughes song, Miss C. Williams; an English recitation, Mr. Edgar A. Lewis song, Miss H. Jenkins address by the Rev. R. O. Evans; song by Miss Ada A. Evans; duet, Messrs. Henry A. Lewis and David Roberts recitation, Mr. J. Jas. Williams song, Eos Maldwyn address, Mr. Phillips. A vote of thanks was then given to the Chairman, to the Church for the use of the Chapel, and to all those who had assisted at the concert, etc., and to all those ladies who officiated at the tea-tables. The meeting concluded by the singing of the national anthem," Hen wlad fy nhadau," by Mr. E. Williams, the audience 'joining in the refrain. The English schools congregated at Jerusalem Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, and a successful entertainment was given, the chair being occupied by the Rev. T. D. Matthias, Nantymoel. The accompanists were Mr. Arthur Williams, Ponty- pridd, and Miss M. A. Jones, London House. The programme was as follows:—Song, Miss Mary Ann Bound; recitation, Miss Frances M. Dearson song, Miss Rebecca Thomas; song, Mr. Howells (Eos Mal- dwyn) duet, Misses Lewis and Jonés; dialogue, Masters Edward O. Evans and Osmond Gwyther; anthem, by the United Schools; song, Miss Maggie John; dialogue, Master D. T. Davies and friends an address by the Rev. T. Evans; duet, Miss R. Thomas and Friend recitation, Master Uriah Hooper song, Miss Evans; anthem, Exalt Him all ye people," by the united choirs. The usual votes of thanks con- cluded the proceedings.
