Prestatyn. v. Llandudno.
Prestatyn. v. Llandudno. After an absence from their own ground for over three months, Prestatyn entertained Llandudno on the Marine Ground on Saturday in fine but dull weather. Owing to a misunderstanding no referee turned up, but the teams agreed to Mr Jno. Evans, of Prestatyn, acting in that capacity. It was quite 30 minutes after the advertised time of kick-off when Prestatyn facud their opponents in the following order: Goal, W. Glass backs. J. T. Williams and Jack Jones; halves, D. Junes, P. Jones, and S. Jones; forwards, J. Parry, W. Williams E. Holbrook, BcJIJ Jones, and I J. Watts. It will be noticed that the homesters were without It. Hughes, G. Glass, and T. Brooks, whilst two new men in D. Jones and W. William* were given a trial. Llandudno kicked off before a very poor gate, and the homesters at once attacked, but Llandudno defended in splendid style. Watts was in great form on the extreme left, getting through repeatedly. The Bines continued to have the best of matters, and after 25 minutes' .play Holbrook scored. Watts now got clean through, finishing with a grand shot which the Llandudno custodian saved in brilliant style, and a few minutes from the interval the same player again called upon the custodian to save. Hall-time Prestat) n 1 goal, Llandudno 0. The second half opened in sensational style, Watts getting away from the kick off and ended with a brilliant centre which W. Williams safely placed in the net. Prestatyn now fell off -a great deal and Llandudno attacked with vigour. Glass saving several well directed shots in grand style. The visitors continued to have the best of matters for some time, but at last, Prestatyn got away. and in saving at close quarters the Llandudno keeper was hurt, but was soon able to resume. The Blues were now playing a much better game, and Watts added a third gtlal. But the Llandudno players, not with the referee's decision, started to leave the held. The referee, however, re-considered his decision and gave a goal kick, the game being then resumed. Towards the close the Hods played up in surprising style, and with 10 minutes to play Glass was beaten. After this reverse the homesters fell a way again, 1 11 and only some good defensive work by Glass and iiis backs stopped Llandudno from drawing level. Final result Prestatyn 2, Llandudno 1. That Prestatyn deserved their success no one will deny, but LUuiludno played in pi icky style in the closing stages, and came very near taking a point away with them. Glass g I I played a nice game in goal, whilst J. T. Williams was the best of two hard working backs. The halves played wel except during the closing stages, D. Jones making a very creditable debut. Amongst the forwards Watts shone above all. It is wonderful how this player has improved, and on present form he is one of the best outside lefts on the coast. Is he looking out for a cap in the East v. West trial match? W. Williams (the other recruit) also gave a creditable display, as did J. Parry, but Hoibrook kept the bail far too much. If he is to keep his place in the team he will have to part with the ball quicker. Llan- dudno gave a good account of themselves, their goalkeeper being worthy of special notice for his really brilliant display. SCRAPS OVERHEARD. That in the team first selected the name of Pryce Jones was not to be found. Why not ? He is a fine player and has stuck to his team through thick and thin. New players are all very well, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. That Mr John Evans, who kindly acted as Referee, is an old hand at football, he being on the committee of the Rhyl F.C. in their early days. He should be of great help on the Prestatyn Club Committee. That in the re-play for the Junior Cup (Greenfield v. Conway), the Prestatyn ground has been mentioned. Why not ? That John Love Jones, who last year assisted Prestatyn, has gained his first International Cap, being chosen to act as pivot to the Welsh team v. Scotland. Lovey is at present playing a splendid game as centre for Stoke. Printed and Published by J. T. BUKLiOWS, High-st.,Prestatyn, in the County of Flint..

AGRICULTURE (continued).
AGRICULTURE (continued). The upper part of the milestone is distin- guished by being more cherLy and fossiliferous, -and less homogeneous than these massive beds, and are exposed in numerous quarries and natural sections in the hill-side between Prestatyn and Meliden. Though traversed by many small faults and unuula if ns. they pre- serve a general dip towards the K.N.K. so as to present a fairly continuous sequence. The massive white and grey limestones of Brymau and Nant-yr-ogof are succeeded west of Gwaenysgor by a light brown limestone with nodules of chert. On the hiil-side above Tyn-v-alit (hill bottom), Prestatyn, there are seen thin-bedded grey and brown limestones with thin shales, and chert-nodules and bands, some of the latter containing numerous casts of eucrinite stems and loraminifera, These are suc- ceeded.by the black limestone sab-division. Beds of the same age crop out in the Gop Hill, Newmarket, and in consequence of the alternations of hard and flaggy limestones give rise to regular terraces in the hill-side. Near the base of the hill on the West side there runs a black bituminous limestone,, smelling strongly when struck while to the north west of Marian there is a hard white lime- stone with a saccharoid texture. A shaft on the north of the Gop Hill has traversed a little thm-bedded sandstone with impressions of I'voducttts seabrirulu.i and ■streptomynchus errmktvia. The above in- stances showing that this part of the carboni- ferous limestone is very variable. i he chert which is su abundant in these beds, occurs either as nodules or in bands of four to six inches in thickness. The bands are frequently made up of the remains of encrinites and foraininifera, and thus differ drom the overlying chert beds of milistoue ,grit age. the mass of which is dew-id of -organic remains. The larger fossils also in these limestones aresilicined, the carbonate of lime of the test, especially of the Pnaiitcti, having been replaced by a form of chalcedony known as Beckite. The great abundance of chert in the lime- stones of North Flintshire appears to compen- sate to some extent for the absence of the sandstones intercalated in South Flintshire. The absence of well-marked horizons in the limestone series makes it difficult to detect faults, though doubtless they are numerous, and consequently impossible to measure accurately the thickness of the t^b-division. It may be roughly estimated tlu-t between the top of the basement; beds and the base of the Black Limestone there are from 1,OUO to 1.200 feet of strata.
