CRICKET NOTES.
CRICKET NOTES. Halkyn v. Prestatyn. Prestatyn visited Halkyn on Saturday, and, although one short, had a good team on the field. The ground was in good condition, and gave little assistance to the bowlers. Halkyn's first wicket fell at 12, but aided by a little luck T. Parry (36) and J. L. Francis (51) took the score to 87 before being separated. At this point Horton got Parry caught in the long field and at 113 W. White captured 3 wickets with as many balls thus doing the hat trick." C. Hughes was c. and b. to J. P. Linnell from a skier, and with the score at 119 for 6 wickets the innings was declared, leaving the visitors to get 120 runs in a little over the hour. W. White and McKay opened the innings and at once went in for winning the match- with disastrous results, for at 6 White was caught, and 3 runs later McKay was clean bowled. At this point G. Linnell joined W. A. Jones and started very carefully, but both soon got their eye in and made light of the r5 home bowling. At 71 Linnell was snapped at the wicket for a grand 27. C. Horton's innings was short, but very lively, 20 runs being added j before he was also caught at the wicket for 11. J. P. Linnell joined YV. A. Jones, but after scoring 4 time was called. W. A. Jones j carried out his bat for an invaluable and j brilliant 44 made in about an hour. A very | pleasant game thus ending in a draw. j A few friends joined the team in the drive I to Halkyn. And a beautiful drive it was too, although when 4 o'clock came and some j distance yet to go the cricketers began to 1 wonder whether they would arrive in time to | have a game at all! But all's well that ends | well, and by 5 o'clock the homesters were | busy getting runs. f The game over, the ''inner man" was forti- I fied, and the return journey was commenced, t this being accomplished by 10 o'clock. j Mr Frank Mortimer, the president of the i local club, has promised a bat for the best batting average, and also a bat for the best 11 bowling average at the end of the season. I If W. A. Jones is not given his place in the I County Xl it will certainly not be because he | is not the right man for the place. i The Rhyl Commercial Travellers are to be I the visitors here on Saturday. f i
