TENBY. REDUCTION OF FARES BETWEEN BRISTOL AND TZNBr. -We have much pleasure in announcing that, on and after June the 1st, the Bristol General Steam Navigation Company intend to reduce their first cabin fare, to and from Brittol, to 10s 6d. LECTURE.—A lecture will be delivered at the Wesley Chapel, on the evening, of the 27th instant, by the Rev E. R. Edwards, minister, subject, .1 Martin Luther." The chair will be taken at seven o'clock, by the Rev T. Burditt, M.A. On Sunday and Monday week services* in connection with the opening of the new Bethany Calvinistic Metho- dist Cbapel took place in the edifice. The building, which is a very neat and creditable erection, was builfc at a cost we have heard of above jEMO or £ 600. The por- tion intended for divine worship is spacious and commo- dious, and -considerable taste has been exercised in the fittings. Ths gallery which is neatly decorated in front, I with wood lattice work painted white on a crimson ground is supported by an iron pillar painted in imita- tion bronze. The pulpit, of mahogany, and stage sur* rounded with a polished mahogany rail, occupies the further end of the building. The edifice is lighted by a handsome chandelier pendant from the centre, and other lamps from the gallery. The outside is built of hewn stone, with substantial gate pillars, hewn stone dwarf walls and iron railings. We may safely say th& chapel is one of the neatest little erectiond of the neigh- bourhood. POLICE COURT, MAY 13TH.—Before the Mayor, Robert Thompson, a vagrant, was charged by P.C. CArew with begging. Ordered to leave the town. May 16.-Before the Mayor, John Phillips, Marsh Road, cab proprietor, was charged by Head-Constable Thomas with being drunk in Frog-street on the night of the lath infit. Discharged with a reprimand—-May 17th.-Before the Mayor, Robert Maitland, a private in the 37th regiment, at Penally Barracks, was charged by Head-Constabte Thomas with being drunk in the public streets on Satur- day night. Ordered to be banded over to the military authorities.——May 18Th.-Before the Mayor, George Stone, senior, Quay Hill, was charged by Mr William Noot, collector to the Tenby Local Board of Health, with diverting certain water, the property of the LoetA Board of the said borough. The case was heard in tb& absence of-Lbe defendant. Fined L5 and costs 9s, or two- months' imprisonment if not paid within one weekt also a further penalty of tt per day if the water tap, now illegally used, be not forthwith closed. Willi-. Fees, labourer, Rocky Park, was charged by P.C. Beynon with driving a cart with two horses without reins. Ordered to pay costt, 2e 6d.——James Ormond, the Wind- mills, was charged by Head-Constable Thomas with leaving his cart unattended upon the public street;. Fined 2. 6d, with 2s 6d eosts, or fevem days' imprison- ment. Money paid.——John Morgan, coal carter, was charged by P.C. Carew with a liKu offence. Fined 2s (id, with 28 6d costs. Money paid. BRITISH AND FOREIGN SOCIETY.—The thirty.fiftb anniversay of the Tenby Auxiliary of the British n4 Foreign Bible Society, was held in the Royal Asaemby Rooms, on Tuesday evening, the 12th instant, when the Rev C. W. Bingham, hector of Melcombe Horsey, Dor- set, represented the Parent Society. The chairman wart the Rev G. N. Smith, Rector of Gumfreston, near Tenby,, who opened the meeting by reading the 59rh Psalm, followed by an extempore prayer invoking the Divine blessing. The Chairman then read the report of the- Tenby Auxiliary, and its branches at Begelly, Stepaside, Saundersfoot, Penally,-Saint Flprenoe, and Manorbeer, for the year ending 31st March last, which was highly satisfactory, as the increase in the subscriptions, and the sale of Bibles, &c., was much larger than in any preced- ing year. The Chairman then called upon the Rev T» Burditt, Baptist minister, and also upon a gentlemaa visitor, to address the meeting. Aftei wards the deputa- tion gave a detailedaccoant of the society's operations during the past year, particularizing the great success the society had at the Paris Exhibition of last year, and more recently in the diffusion of the Amoric version of the Scriptures in Abyssinia during the war just termi- nated. The Chairman, after a word of exhortation, alked the large assembly to join him in singing the well-knowa psalm "Oh God! our help in uges past," and pronouneed the blessing, and the meeting separated. The collection. at the doors amounted to £8 6s 7 !d.
