I shall endeavour also to extend the usefulness and blessings which accompany our Reformed Church. lshall offer the strongest opposition to the endowment of the Church of Rome in Ireland. I am very anxious to see the Inrge increase in taxation which has taken place of late years, ( specially in our Military and Xaval Departments, much di- minished, and indulge the hope that the policy of non- interference which Lord Stanley has so hsppiiy inaugurated will, in the end, lead to a considerable European Disarmament. My constant aim will be to promote the success of measures that may conduce the reduction of Local Taxation. ,I I shall endeavour to press forward the Reform of the Bankruptcy, and other beneficial measures, which hava been so often hindered by valuable time being lost at the end of each session by party strife.
