Y DIAFOL NEWYDD. Y mae Dr. Cynddylan Jones yn feistr ar watwareg. Wrth anerch cynulleidfa yn Aber- carn aeth rhagddo i adrodd hanes Diwygiad '59. Collai cynulleidfaoedd y Deffroad hwnnw hefyd bob rheolaeth arnynt eu hunain. Atalient y pregethwr ar ganol ei bregeth. Haerai y beirniaid oerion a doeth fod y bobl yn wallgof; nas gallasai yr Ysbryd Glan, o bawb, achosi peth felly. Rhaid mai rhyw ysbryd arall oedd wrth y gorchwyl-rhyw; ddemon, neu ddiafol newydd. Adwaenai pawb yr hen ddiafol wrth ei waith. Gyru pobl yn heidiau i'r tafarnau y byddai efe. Eu. gwallgofi a than uffern. Cymeryd eu dillad oddiam danynt; peri iddynt ymddwyn at eu gwragedd a'u plant yn waeth na phe buasent yn fwystfilod. Rhoddi Cymraeg a Saesneg y Trueni yn eu genau. Wrth gwrs, yr oedd yr holl wlad yn ei awdurdodi ef; nis gallai wadu ei hun. Ond am y diafol newydd, myn hwn yru y bobl wrth y miloedd i'r addoldai. Gwna iddynt ffieiddio eu hen fywyd. Dyd ddillad newydd am eu cyrph, ac arian yn eu llogellau. Crea ynddynt awydd am ragori. Lleinw hwy a serch ymarferol at eu teuluoedd eu prif hvfryd- wch yw canu mawl i Dduw, a bod o wasanaeth i'w cyd-ddyn. Diafol rhagorol yw hwn. Y mae iddo groeso mawr i'n plith. Hoffem ei weled yn rheoli holl Gymru

YR ATHRONYDD A'R PENNILL. Dro yn ol rhoddodd Athronydd ac Esgob eu barn o berthynas i darddle y Deffroad. Yr oedd y ddau foneddwr yn unfryd-unfarn teimlad oedd Achosydd y cyfan. Yn fuan ar ol y dwthwn hwnnw arweiniwyd yr Athronydd i seiat gan ei gyfeillion. Yr oedd rhyw ysbryd yn awyr yr odfa na theimlwyd ei debyg ers talm. Gwir nad oedd yn weledig, eto daethai mewn ufudd-dod i wahoddiadau taerion. Ym mhlith eraill, cododd yr Athronydd ar ei draed; ac wrth draethu ei feddwl ar athroniaeth crefydd, arweiniwyd ef yn ddifeddwl gan rhyw angel glan at hen bennill a ddysgasai efe pan yn blentyn bach. Tra gyda'r gorchwyl hyfryd hwnnw, daeth yn amlwg i'r gynulleidfa fod y boneddwr dysgedig mewn "ystorm." Trechodd yr hen bennill ef yn wych. Disgynodd gwlaw calon ar ei wyneb, ac nis mynai ei guddio. Yr oedd yr Athronydd yn fyw o deimlad hyfryd, ond atolwg pwy roddodd y teimlad ar dan ? Adgofion ? Efallai, ond nid oedd yr adgofion yn ddim amgen na magdanau; Haw pwy a ddefnyddiodd yr adgofion i bwrpas felly ? Nid diogel myned ar gefn pennillion y dyddiau hyn, canys y mae digon o rym ynddynt, er diniweitied eu golwg, i ddwyn yr iach ei ysbryd i'r llwch.

MR. EVAN ROBERTS. Torrodd iechyd y Diwygiwr i lawr yr wythnos ddiweddaf, a bu raid iddo gymeryd gorphwysdra am rai dyddiau. Nid yw hynny yn unrhyw syndod pan gofir mor enfawr ydyw ei lafur wedi bod yn ystod y pedwar mis diweddaf. Am rai wythnosau ni chymerai y gofal lleiaf am dano ei hun, ni feddyliai am adeg ymborth nag adeg cwsg. Meddyliai yn ddiau y buasai grym ei frwdfrydedd yn ei gario yn ddiogel dros ben pob perygl corphorol. Ond bu raid iddo arafu, a boddloni i adael i eraill gario rhai cyfarfodydd yrnlaen hebddo. Yn ol y newyddion diweddaraf 1 law y mae ei iechyd bron wedi ei adfer, a disgwylia fedru ymafiyd etto yn y gwaith sydd yn myned a'i holl fryd. Ond y mae wedi tynu ei gyhoeddiad yn ol o Gaerdydd. Disgwylid ef yno dydd Mercher i gychwyn cyfres o gyfarfod- ydd oedd i barhau am bum niwrnod. Ni wyddom paham y penderfynodd beidio cyflawni ei addewid, ond awgrymir fod pobl Caerdydd wedi gordrefnu ar gyfer yr ymweliad, a bod hynny wedi peri iddo ofni myned yno. Beth bynnag arall ddywedir am Evan Roberts, rhaid cydnabod nad yw yn ceisio galw sylw ato ei hun a r cyfarfodydd y cymer ran ynddynt drwy unrhyw beirianwaith trefniadol.

Oxford Notes. FOR the greater portion of this term Jesus College will miss the presence of its Principal- Professor John Rhys. The delicate state of Mrs. Rhys' health necessitates a stay in a climate more congenial to invalids than that of foggy and relaxing Oxford. This winter Professor and Mrs. Rhys are visiting the West Indies and more particularly Jamaica-an island which, thanks to the commendable efforts of the Elder Dempster Company, whose leading spirit is that Welsh Welshman, Sir Alfred Jones-seems to be growing in popular favour as a health resort. The necessity of the visit we deeply regret, but sincerely trust that the voyage and stay will be such in its results that all future tours undertaken by Professor and Mrs. Rhys will be solely for pleasure. OF the five W elsh 'Varsity Societies--the Dafydd ap Gwilym, the Old Aberystwythian, the Welsh Church, the Llwyd and the Ystrad Meurig- the Dafydd ap Gwilym and the Old Aberyst- wythian are, so far, the only two which have met. The Dafydd met on Saturday, January 29th, and after disposing of the usual prelimin- aries indulged in a discussion on The Defects in the Welsh Character." An attempt was made to set before us the Welsh character from the stranger's point of view. Whilst some minor defects were readily admitted the alleged greater defects provoked an animated and interesting discussion. THE Old Aberystwythian Society-or, in short, the O.A.S.-met on the previous Friday, January 28th. A paper was read by W. Ward (Merton), on Memories of Aber." It brought back to the members present many pleasant recollections of the happy time spent in Y Coleg ger y Hi' It might be interesting to note that this Society, together with the Dafydd, claims the honour of numbering Mr. O. M. Edwards amongst its founders. LAST Sunday evening we were privileged to hear the Bethesda Male Voice Party, so long famous among the Male Voice Choirs of Wales. They gave two concerts during the day in two Nonconformist places of worship in the city and met with a cordial reception on both occasions. Though our personal feeling was that too much English music was rendered by a choir so characteristically Welsh, they acquitted them- selves very creditably in their singing of Comrades," and it was a rare treat to hear some of the Diwygiad hymns sung so finely by a choir that seemed to enter so fully into the spirit of the words and music. We trust that their visit was a success in every respect and that their future performances will be as creditable to themselves and their cause as at Oxford they undoubtedly proved to be.

U 7* (( IN THE j] 13 -A BEAUTY AND SUCCESS IN LIFE. THE secrets and opportunities of success in life are within ourselves. Through want of knowledge of these facts golden opportunities have been flung away, and countless lives have been wrecked. To make life a success every individual should possess these four indispensable per- sonal qualities-sound judgment, strength of purpose, perseverance, and a prepossessing appearance. It is common knowledge that the first three can be acquired, but only within the last few years has the fact been established that facial beauty can also be attained. It is impossible to over-estimate the importance of this statement. What such a discovery means can be judged by a perusal of the vast and extraordinary collection ol letters in the possession of the David Macqueen Company, bearing testimony from all classes-men and women, of all ages, who through the stress of life or temporary loss of health, have had driven from their cheeks the glow of health and beauty clerks whose pale and wan faces were a detriment to their advancement in life business men who discovered that progress in commercial pursuits was retarded by facial disability; maidens who had vainly looked forward to secure a partner in life, only to discover the line in the old song, My face is my fortune," was, alas too true jaded shop assistants of both sexes, whose personal appearance is ever before the gaze of the crowded establishment. How did this discovery originate ? Some years ago, David Macqueen, recognising the fact that there was no known remedy for bad complexions except by using certain poisonous mineral drugs, endeavoured to discover a harmless element. This, after an exhaustive research, he found existing in several wholesome edible vegetable substances. The discovery was placed before the world in the form of the now famous Vegetine Pills. This specific is the only harmless and wholly beneficial antidote for all forms of skin blemishes, such as sallowness, pallor, spots, blotches, pimples, blackheads, and other disfigurements arising from impurities of the blood. One box will prove their power over the blood and complexion. The evidence as to the remarkable efficacy of the "Vegetine" Pills is too overwhelming for doubt. A few indiscriminate selections from the vast number of testimonials are here given. The originals can be seen at the office of the David Macqueen Company, any day between the hours of 10 and 6. TYSTIOLAETHAU. Miss F. Williams, Gorran, St. Austell, Cornwall, a ysgrifena: "Y mae yn bleser genyf eich hysbysu er pan gymerais eich pelenau fod fy ngwedd wedigwella yn fawr, a'u bod wedi profi o les dirfawr i mi. Jones, Bethesda, North Wales, a ysgrifena Yr wyf yn amgau archeb am 2S. 9c. am flychaid arall o'r Vegetine Pills.' Ar ol rhoddi prawf arnynt, yr wyf yn canfod fod fy nghroen yn gwella yn raddol, ond yn sicr." Miss N. Phillips, Abertawe, a ysgrifena: Byddwch cystal ac anfon blwch arall o'r pelenau rhyfeddol i mi. Yr wyf yn canfod eu bod y feddyginiaeth oreu gefais tuagat fy ngwedd." Ysgrifena Mr. H. Mr. Thos. Morris, Pontywain, Newport, a ddywed: Y mae yn dda genyf allu dwyn tystiolaeth i rinwedd eich" pelenau—y maent y goreu gefais erioed.
