Gohebiaethau. [Nid ydym mewn un modd yn gyfrifol am syniadau ein gwahanol phebwyr." COFGOLOFN LLEWELYN. At Olygydd y "LONDON WELSHMAN." ANWYL SVR,-Cof genych yn ddiau i mi anfon gair attoch rai wythnosau yn ol yn nghylch y casgliad wnaed rai blynyddoedd yn ol yn mhlith Cymry Llundain-at y symudiad uchod, a pha beth ydoedd wedi digwydd i'r arian a fwriwyd i'r drysorfa. Diamheu genyf hefyd eich bod yn cofio na chefais unrhyw fath o eglurhad—mewn gwirionedd, ni wnaeth neb ond Glan Menai un sylw o'r peth. Ni fuaswn yn cyfeirio at y mater drachefn oni bai i mi, yn ddamweiniol, ddyfod ar draws y nodiad canlynol mewn copi o'r London Kelt am Tachwedd 14eg, 1896, a dyma fe, air am air Bu llawer yn prophwydo mai methiant a fyddai y Gronfa er codi cof-golofn i Llewelyn ein llyw ola', ond y mae Cymry Llundain, yn dihuno, a dywedir y ceir yn agos i gan punt o'r brifddinas cyn- y terfynir. Bydd rhaid cau y gronfa cyn bo hir, a chan hyny taer gymhellir ein gwladgarwyr, o bob plaid a chred, i anfon eu tanysgrifiadau yn union at yr ysgrifenydd-Mr. Arthur Griffith, 112, Gower Street." Dichon fod rhywun neu rywrai allant roddi gwybod pa faint o arian a gasglwyd, a pha beth ddaeth o honynt; o'r hyn lleiaf gall y cyfaill a enwir uchod roddi cyfrif o'r oruchwyliaeth mor belied ag yr oedd ef yn dal cysylltiad o'r mudiad. a Yr eiddoch, gyda dymuniadau goreu am "Flwyddyn Newydd Dda," GLYNDWR.

CYMRU FYDD. At Olygyddy LONDON WELSHMAN." SYR,—Gan fod y berw etholiadol wedi dod ar ein gwarthaf, y mae'n briodol ac amserol i ymholi beth ydym fel Cymry'r ddinas yn fwriadu ei wneyd er dwyn friaterion Cymreig o flaen y gwahanol ymgeiswyr yn y ddinas hon yn ogystal ag yn Nghymru, lie y mae llawer o honom yn meddu ar bleidlais ? Ar un adeg bu Cymdeithas Wleidyddol yn ein mysg o'r enw Cymru Fydd. Yr oedd rhyw haid o ffugwlad- garwyr ynglyn a hi—y rhai a esgeulusent bob cyfarfod addysgiadol ond a wthient eu hunain i'r ffrynt yn mhob gwledd a gaed ynglyn a hi. Pa le y maent y dyddiau hyn ? Rhyw flwyddyn yn ol penodasant ysgrifenydd ar gyflog o bum punt-ar-hugain y flwyddyn, ond yr oil a wnaed o dan yr oruchwyliaeth newydd yw trefnu gwledd Ai nid doeth f'ai cael cyfarfod o'r aelodau ar unwaith er trefnu y cadau i wneyd rhyw ychydig o waith. Ni ddaw yr alwad ond rhyw unwaith bob pum mlynedd, a phe gwnelai'r pwyllgor un diwrnod o waith hwyrach y gallent fwynhau y cinio yn llawer gwell y tro nesaf y ca'nt y fath ffwlbiji. Yr eiddoch, lIEN AELOD.

MR. TIMOTHY DAVIES AND FULHAM. To the Editor of "THE LONDON WELSHMAN." SIR,-May I, as a Welshman who' is anxious for the complete realisation of Welsh hopes and aspirations at the forthcoming General Election, suggest that every London Welshman should make the election a personal question, and ask himself what he can do to further the cause which we all have at heart ? I think it is taken for granted that never in our history as a nation has Wales had such an opportunity, and surely it is not too much to expect that every man and every woman, too, who is desirous of the welfare of Wales should be up and doing. In London we have an opportunity of adding one member to the representation of Wales by returning Mr. Timothy Davies, the candidate for Fulham, but if this is to be done we must all, as London Welshmen and women, assist Mr. Davies by canvassing, delivering cards, &c., and so wipe out Mr. Hayes Fisher's majority of 2,300. This is by no means impossible of achieve- 'ment, but it means work, and I venture to ask, through your columns, that everyone who can spare a few hours in the day or evening time will come to the committee rooms and volunteer for work. Mr. Davies is to well known to the London Welsh colony to need any com- mendation of mine, so I conclude by confidently appealing to our young people to form a band of helpers. There is no time to be lost, as the election will take place probably on the 16th. Mr. or Mrs. Davies and the agent, Mr. Allgood, will be happy to receive all volunteers at the committee rooms. Shall we not have a band of 100 helpers from the various districts of London to invade Fulham and carry Mr. Davies triumphantly through. Yours obediently, CYMRO. Mr. Timothy Davies's Central Committee Rooms, 14, Harwood Road, The Broadway, Walham Green, S.W., Jan. 2nd, 1906.

CRONFA LLEWELYN.—Caiff eich llythyr Ie, a sicr y ceir eglurhad ar y mater gan y rhai sydd wedi derbyn yr arian. Ond dylid cofio fod llawer o gostau wedi myned i drefnu cyfarfodydd ar y cychwyn. R. D.—Yr ydym yn ddiolchgar am eich awgrymiadau, ond nid doeth f'ai troi yr holl bapur i'r Saesneg, mwy na'i gadw yn gyfan yn Gymraeg. Cofiwch fod yr elfen ddwyieithog yn gryf iawn yma, a'n hamcan yw rhoddi papur at wasanaeth y miloedd o'r ddau ddosbarth. E. MORGAN.—Bu raid cwtogi eich adroddiad oherwydd ei fod yn ddiweddar i law. BRYCHAN.—Mae Cymry Llundain yn sicr o fod yn llawn mor genedlgarol a Chymry unrhyw dref Seisnig arall, ac nid ydym yn cytuno a'ch dywediad mai ychydig yw'r prynu yma ar lyfrau Cymreig. Dengys aelodau ein cymdeithasau llenyddol yn hollol i'r gwrthwyneb, oherwydd mentrwn ddweyd na cheir yn unman fechgyn a merched yn fwy hyddysg yn ein llenyddiaeth nag a geir yn y cynulliadau poblog hyn.

ST. DAVID'S EVE SERVICES.

ST. DAVID'S EVE SERVICES. While politics, says a Manchester Guardian correspondent, are entirely absorbing the atten- tion of Welshmen at home, Welshmen, especially Welsh Churchmen, in England are profoundly exercised over the problem of St. David's Eve services. This year, be it noted, Ash-Wednes- day falls on St. David's Eve, February 28. Con- sequently the churches will hardly be then available for the Welsh festivals. Accordingly, the St. Paul's Cathedral service will be held on February 27. A similar course has been adopted in Birmingham, where it will be remembered, a Welsh St. David's Eve service was held for the first time last year, the credit of the step being due to the Rev. J. A. Evans, a former vicar choral of St. David's Cathedral, and with the sanction of Bishop Gore the St. David's Eve service is to be held in the Pro-Cathedral, and the Bishop of St. David's has been already secured as preacher. Bishop Gore, it may interest your readers to know, takes a warm interest in Wales. In his youthful days he frequently meditated on theological problems in lonely St. David's. At a later time he gave some interesting lectures at St. Asaph. Welsh Churchmen in other parts of England will do well to imitate Birmingham and London and make early arrangements so as to meet the Ash- Wednesday difficulty.

Football Chat. fBy PEL DROED.] London Welsh F.C.—In their return match against Gloster the London Welsh lost by 7 points to nil. According to the reporter of a local evening journal, "the London Welsh played an excellent forward game at Gloster, but were worn down towards the finish and beaten." Welsh Football Reunion.-In reading a copy of the Sunderland Daily Echo the other day, I noticed that Mr. W. McGregor writes in ap- preciative terms of the proposed reunion of Welsh footballers in London on the eve of the forthcoming International match between England and Wales. A Lucky Team.—The New Zealand Football Team had extraordinary luck in South Wales. They beat Newport by three points, although impartial critics state that a draw would have been the truest criterion as to the respective merits of the sides. They beat Cardiff by two points, but there was a pretty unanimous opinion that the Welsh citizens were the best team, and simply lost through a bad mistake by one of their players. On Saturday the Colonials beat Swansea by a dropped goal (four points), to a try (three points). The last mentioned match was the luckiest stroke of all, for Swansea were actually leading until the last fifteen minutes of the game, when Wallace dropped a goal and just won the match for the New Zealanders. English Prejudice.—The fact that Wales were the only side to beat the Colonials has aroused the jealousy of several of the London journals. They excuse the defeat of the Colonials by say- ing that they were stale" when they met Wales, notwithstanding the fact that just a few days before their arrival in Wales the Colonials had beaten Yorkshire and Cheshire by huge scores The London Standard and the Daily Telegraph are particularly bigoted and unfair. In fact these two papers have always been pre- judiced against Wales and Welsh interests generally, whether athletic or otherwise. The London Daily News, Daily Chronicle, and Morning Leader have been much fairer, notably the Daily News. The yellow Daily Mirror has published some particularly silly and unfair comments on Welsh football. Wales v. England.-Football interest is now being directed towards the forthcoming Inter- national Match, England v. Wales, at Rich- mond. The Welsh team will be selected to- day (Saturday). It is generally surmised in South Wales that the Welsh threequarter line will consist of Nicholls, Gabe, E. T. Morgan, and Maddocks (London Welsh). The Welsh Rugby Union.-Some strong criticism has been levelled at the Welsh Rugby Union owing to its decision to give one firm the right to sell the official match programme and another firm the sole right to take photo- graphic snapshots of the game." This was a most silly thing to do. The next thing we may hear is that Mr. So and So has got the sole right to eat oranges on the grand stand The Union's Press arrangements also left much to be desired. Considering what the Press has done for football the Union ought to show more consideration in this respect.
