SWANSEA' HARBOUR TRUST. i…
SWANSEA' HARBOUR TRUST. Monthly Meeting. The monthly meetimg of the Swansea. Har- bour Truist was held on Moaidiaiy, SiT Griffith Thomas presiding. There were also pre- sent, The Mayor (Council-loir M. Tutton), Lord Glantawe, Mr. W. Graham Vivian, Mr Roger ie,cL, iVh-. Join Giaisbroo* Mr D. M. Glasbirook, Mr. F. R. Glynn Price, Mr. Jaimtee Livingstom, Mr- F. Cory Yeo, Mt. George liowe-, Mr. W. T. Faarr, Mr. David Davies; Mr. E. G. Protheroe, Mr. T. T. Oorkor, Mr. Geo. Cook, Mr. Geo. Burgeise, Mr. Ben. Jonies, and Mr. Dd. Williams. Mr. Glynn Priioe, in moving tihe axloiptaon of the minutes of the Finanoe Comimdittee, said that the trade of the port for the last month moot, be regarded as eatisfactory, hav ing regard to the diminifihed trade of many oilier ports. The profit on the month's worK Lug was £ 4,255 compared with J33,540 for the same month last year. Lord Gianitawe seconded, and in doing so, Balili although thetre had been a. falling off in the imports, the increase in the exports more than compensated for this. It was very satisfactory to find that Swansea still held its own, and was one of tihe few poTta that had done so during the depressed times of laet year.. The total increase for the year was 108,000 tons. Looking over the Board of Traldie returns for December, there were slight indications that they had touched the bottom of the depressed, times brought about by the financial difficulties in America His Lordship certainly thought there was reason to believe they were now on the upward grade. Although they oould not hope to have a rapid advance o,f trade there were undoubtedly signs of better times There had been an increase of 3,300 tons in the frnplate output, during the month which was 16 per cent over the correspond- mg month of laet year. France had taken 500 tons, Holland nearly double, Alexan- dria, 600 tons, and the United States 500 more than the previous month, so that al- together eoocellent progress was shown. The Chairman remarked that for the year imports had imcreatsed by 43,000 tons. and exports 65,000 tons, and ho believed that when the accounts were made up the total increase wouild 125,000. (Hear, heaœ}. The minutes were adopted. The Ohairman moved the adoption of the minutes of the Executive Committee ap- pointing Lieut. David Evans, R.N.R., \,1 Swansea, master at the South Dock. The Mayor seconded and the minute were carried. Mr. Roger Beck and Mr. Thos. MearaUe were appointed revisors of the lists of those tntitled to vote for members of the Harbour Trust.
