(Official) Report of an inquiry of the British Government in the year 1862, printed for the House of Commons, 1862: It appears certain that the Hungarian Wine Growers do not adulterate their Wines, indeed, they are so generally good, that they would certainly be deteriorated if alcohol were added. While possessing a great resem- blance to the Wines of Burgundy and the Rhine, the better Wines of Hungary have greater body and strength, and would be more likely to suit our taste.
