The portrait is published by Messrs Askew Roberts, Woodall, and Venables of Oswestry, and can be sent by post. In our own immediate district Mr Davies is well known as a great benefactor of the country. We owe very largely to his entirprice the Manchester and Milford and the Pembroke and Tenby railways. He has also identified himself with the Welsh University College by wise counsel and munificent gifts. In fact, Mr David Davies is a typical Welshman, whose patriotism has not been quenched by his marvellous success in life. Every- where in Wales his name is mentioned with pride, and we have no doubt that this portrait of him will soon adorn hundreds of homes n the Principality. We have already said that the like- ness is an excellent one. It could not be more truthful. Not only are the lineaments of the face there, but the artist has caught its natural expression. No one can look on those bright eyes, and that broad forehead, without a consciousness that there lies beneath, that wealth of power which has enabled him to reach unaided the high position he now holds. The portrait is a capital likeness, highly finished, and altogether re- flects credit upon the establishment where it is issued.-Shrews- bury Free Press. A portrait of Mr David Davies, of Landinam—the well-known contractor and chief shareholder in the Ocean Steam Collieries has just been issued by Messrs Askew Roberts, Woodall, and Venables, of Oswestry.
