OFFICE: No. 211, Hight-streei, Swansea. rROSPKCTUh. •- This Company has been formed for the purpose of taking over and publishing at Swansea, in the interests of the Conservative and Unionist party, two newspapers, viz., an Evening Daily Paper called the 80UTH WALES DAILY POST," and a weekly paper called the t: SOUTH WALES WEEKLY POST.' which were established about 18 month? ago, and have hitherto been carried on ir. the interests of the Liberal Party. Party. It is proposed to acquire a valuable lease of premises of considerable extent in thebellt part of High-street, Swansea, containing the Editorial, Printing, and Publishing Ornoeg of the Papers, and a Jobbing Printer's Business, the copyright of the papers, the goodwill of the business, as a going concern, tagetber with the whole of the machinery, presses, plant, and type, at the low price of £ 1,000. The extreme desirability of having a high- class newspaper expressing Constitutional and Unionist principles in Swansea and the immediate neighbourhood has long been kceniy felt, and the Directors believe that their present action will supply this want. A General Parliamentary Election, to take place at, perhaps, a very early date, hr.ex- aii 1. enrt tt-ie nart 5otfK £ ljr that in consequence of the attack upau the Church the Welsh constituencies will be more generally and more keenly fought than has recently been the case. If this be done a iiigh-class paper, advocating the principles expounded by the Conservative and Unionist CandidateF. and giving greater prominence to their addresses than can be expected from newspapers published in the interests of tlleÍr I opponents, will b9 most useful in carrying them to the homes of the electors, and may become a material factor in ensuring the success of the candidates and their cause. The large population of Swansea and the immediate neighbourhood is amply sufficient, to support a daily evening paper. The ex- perience of the late proprietors has been that the people of the Western portions of Glamorganshire and of the Eastern parts of Carmarthenshire (as well as Swansea proper) are i-eadv to read the weekly p^per which has contained the articles of news that appeared in the daily issues, with two or three columns of original matter in Welsb. It is proposed to make the Welsh columns an important I feature and an attractive element in the weekly issuse. The Directors have already secured the services of an efficient stalf in order te ensure the popularity and success of the papors. Two Contracts have been entered into:— I An Agreement, dated the 30th day of I July, 1894, for the sale of the said Business, and madf between Sir John Talbot Dillwyn Lie welyn, Joseph HA; Robert S. Lindley, William John Rees, James Aiian Smith, and Thomas I William Jauaes of the one part, and Charles Henry Cawker on bahalf of the Company of the ocher part. An Agreemeut, dated the 30th day of July, 1S94, and made between the said f-ir John Taibot DUhyvn Liewelvn, Joseph Hall, Roberts. Lindley, William Joim Rees, James Alian Smith, and Thomas William Jamcs of the one part, and Davit] Da vies of the other part, being the appointment of the sai-i David Diivies as EdiLor and Manager cf the said Newspapers. It is anticipated that the issue of the even- ing paper will ssuou have a largely increased circulation. Apart from the undertaking of bringing out the newspapers, tbe Direotors bringing out the newspapers, tbe Direotors are assured and believe that a jarge business ru&y be done as general printers, and they have reason to hope that at an early period the enterprise will be remunerative, and that the shares will be materially above par value. ¡ It is provided in the Articles of Aj*socia- lion thuc the Directors aball not receive remuneration in any year until a dividend of 5 per cent. has been paid upon the Ordinary Shares. If no allotment be made the deposit will be turned in full, and where a less number of shares is allotted tnan applied for, the sur- plus will be credited in reduction of the I amount payable ou allotment. Tho said two Contracts and Copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association may be seen and ali information obtained r.t j, the Offices of the Company, or of the j Solicitor. 1699 I MR. D.
