.0. Cardiff Conservative Work- ing Men's Club. On Saturday aveniDg a laryely-attended and most enthusiastic special general meeting of the members of the Cirdiff Conservative Working Men's Club v as held at the Club-house, Custom Ho^se-street. Amongst those p esent were Mr. Councillor Riches. Mr. Councillor Oliver. Mr. Coun- cillor Hopkins, the Rev. Mr. Jones, Dr. Horder, Dr. Treharne, Mr. B. Frazer, jun., Mr. Thomas Elliott, Mr. Thomas Sheil, and other influential gentlemen. I —Mr. Councillor Riches, one of the vice-presidents of the club, was unanimously voted to the chair. — Letters were read by the secretary, Mr. A. S. Dobbie, from Lieutemnt-Colo« el Hin, C.B., and Messrs. Archibald Hood. H. Cousins, and H. O. Fisher, vice-oresiden's, stating their inability to be present owing to previous engagements. The CHAIRMAN* addressed the M^lir-, at some length, and congratulated the club on the success -which it had hithartc met wit h, and before resuming his'seat called c:i the secretary to read the follow- ing autograoh letter received by the chairman of the ciuo from the iti^ht Hon. the Earl of lddes- leigh Pyues. BtcHey, Esq. The CHAIRMAN moved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the Earl of Iddesleigh for his letter and kind offer of portrait, which wa3 ùuly seooaded p.nd unanimously carried. The Chairman next moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Biekley for having written to Lord Iddeslaigh, which was seconded by M George Hopkins, and supported 0"" Mr. Councillor Oliver, Mr. Councillor Hopkins, Dr. Horder, and Dr. Treharne, and carried unanimoui-ly. Mr. E:C-T..F.T, in acknowledging the vote of lhanks so cordially passed, referred in an abla manner to the high qualities of the Minister of the Crown who had honoured them by such an important, and welcome recognition of the club in its infancy. -As chairman of the club, it was a source of gratification So hioiself and the other officers and comnaifee to see so many influential gentlemen present, and ho thanked them for such a generous rec gnition 0; the labours of the officers and committee in bringing the ciub to such a favourable issue. Dr. TRKHARNK also dwelt on. the coming School Board election, and stated that iu was his intention to stand as a candidate for the same. Matters of private interest and importance relating to the club were also discussed by Mr. Hopkins and o^ier gentlemen present. A most successful n epting was brought to a close by a hearty vote 01 tiianxs being passed to Mr. Riches for presiding.
