LONDON MARKETS, &e. LONDON CORN EXCHANGE, MONDAY, OCT. 5. The receipts of English wheat were 6,560 qrs., of roreign 5,814. There was a good show of samples from Kent this morning, but not from Essex. F oil prices were first demanded, but former rates eventually taken, the business in red qualities being very heavy. The demand for foreign was limited, and prices unaltered. Of country flour there were 15,309 sacks; of foreign 371 sacks, 130 brls. Norfolks being less plentiful, were about ls. per sack dearer. Town-made and foreign were as last quoted. The quantity of English barley was 2,720 qrs., of forc.gn2,K)iqrs. The whole trade was quiet, there being most done in grinding samples. There was a full average supply of foreign stock in to-day's market, and some of the Dutch sheep were in first-rate condition: several pens realized 65s. each. From our own grazing districts, the arrivals of beasts fresh up this morning were seasonably good as to num- ber. but deficient in quality. As the total show was rather extensive, the beef trade ruled heavy, at a decline in the quotations realized on Monday last of 2d per 8lbs. The top figure for Scots was 4s. 10d. per SIbs. For the time of year the show of sheep was limited, and very few of them came to hand in really prime con- dition. On the whole the mutton trade ruled steadv, but not to say brisk, at last Monday's currency. The best old Downs were worth 5s 6d. per Glbs. „ s. a s. a s. a. g. d. Our market has evinced symptoms of a declining ten- dency. Copper, iron, spelter, and tin are mostly quoted somewhat lower; lead and tin-plates are also easier although the general quotations remain about the same as last inserted; the market altogether appears to hav undergone a change, prices becoming easier under n limited amount of business. There is evidently less disposi- tion to operate on the part of speculators, although the deliveries in Holland last month were very large, at the same time it was prompt month, when it is usual for larger shipments to take place. Baiica is reported to be had at the sale price in Amsterdam. Former prices for tin-plates are maintained. JLIVBBPOOI>, OCT. I.-In the absence of any alteration in our mark et for metals, we have to refer to our report of last week. There appears to be no diminution in the demand for Welsh bars, and also for good qualities of Staffordshire iron, and prices are well supported. The exports are favourable, and the requirements for local purposes are extensive, so that the position of the trade js satisfactory. There is no change in tin for English especially, the inquiry is good, leaving stacks bare. For habitual costiveness, and as a family aperient medicine, they are truly excellent; mild in their operation, and grateful to the stomach, they create appetite, promote dieestion, and strengthen the whole nervous system. Copy of a letter from Mr. PERTW.EE, ChomW, Romford, Essett. June 5th, 1855. To Mr. Lambert.-Slr,-A ladycame to my abopthis morningfof a box of Dr. Scett's Bili,:us and Liver Pills. She informed me that she had been suffering for a long period with an affection of the liver, indigestion, loss of appetite, giddiness, and extreme nervous debility, for which she could get no relief, until she was induced to try the fills, which she stated relieved her after two or three doses and persevering with them her health is now p rfectly re, tored. and from that time she had never been without them. She added, I should consider myself ungrateful if I did n t acknowledge the great benefit I have derived from this excellent medicine, and shall endeavour to make its superior qualities known and appreciated by a large circle of friends. The lady is Mrs. Hoye. of Hornchurch, near Romford. Lower Moss Lane, Chester Road, Manchester, Oct. 12, 1854. Dear Sir, It affords me great satisfaction in being enabled to state that Dr. Scott's Bilious and Liver rPills are effecting many cures, and obtaining an extensive and gratifying notoriety in and around this neighbourhood. Cases have come under my notice wherein the most obstinate form of a disordered liver has been effectually cured solely by the use of a small box of these invaluable Pills no one ought, therefore, to desp.iir of being cured of any complaint of the stomach or live, so long as the patient has not tried them. The Pills are evidently emphatically what they are represented to be, viz., an excellent remedy for any derangement of the digestive organs, nausea, liver complaints, &c. I am, very thankfully yours, T. FORSTER KER. Effectual Cure of Indigestion and Loss of Appetite. The Hall, Ashbourn, Derbyshire, April 2, 1856. To Mr. W. Lambert.-Sir,-It is with much pleasure I make this communication to you. For a long time I had been in a most delicate state of health, and a great sufferer from violent painslin the chest, indigestion, accompanied with sickness and almost total loss of appetite. Although under the care of several eminent medical men, I found no relief from the medicines pre- scribed for me, and had almost given up all hopes of recovery. I was induced by the advice of a friend who had been cured by Dr. Scott's Bilious and Liver Pills" of a severe liver complaint, to give them a trial. After taking the contents of a small box I found great relit f, and with a little perseverance with them, my health is perfectly restored, and 1 can now enjoy my food and pursue my avocations with ease and comfort. A wish to aid in the lleviation and cure of others similarly situated, is my motive for sending you this voluntary testimonial to the great efficiency of your excellent medicine.—Should you wish to make this public, you have my free permission to do so. I am. Sir, yours obliged, MARY BURROWMAN. Prepared only by W. Lambert, Chemist, 20, Jermyn- street, Haymarket, London, in boxes, IS. I id., or three boxes in one, 2s. 9d., and sold by the Venders of Medicine throughout the Kingdom. -.<If IMPORTANT CAUTION.—Be sure to ask for Dr. Scott's Bilious and Liver Pills. If you ask for Scott's Pills" you will get quite a different medicine; if you ask for Bilious and Liver Pills," you will get a spurious compound, which, if taken, will not have *he beneficial effect. Take down the particulars—" DR. Sc0" and Liver Pills." Be sure they are a square green Package It frequently occurs that Druggists impose on the r customers a «'Scott's Pills" in an oval box, which s ouite a different medicine, and causes much disappoint- ment. as their medicinal effects are so opposite. Should any difficulty occur in obtaining the pills, send 16 or 37 posfage-stamps to the eetablighment, and they will be forwarded free. I mtiStdtautous. GRATIS TO THE AFFLICTED.
