WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Borough of Aberystwyth (hereinafter called the Council) are a Local Authority withiu the meanicg of the Shop Hours Act, 1904. AND WHEREAS by Section 1 of the said Act it is provided that an Order (in the Act referred to as a Closing Order ") made by a Local Authority and confirmed by the Central Authority in manner provided by the Act, may fix the hours on the several days of the week at which, either through the area of the Local Authority or in any specified part thereof, all shops, or shops of any specified class, are to be closed for serving customers. AND WHEREAS application has been made to the Council, as such Local Authority, to make a Closing Order under the Act, as herein- after mentioned. AND WHEREAS the Council being satisfied that a prima facie case has been made out for making such Closing Order as aforesaid have given public notice in the manner and form prescribed by the regulations made in pursuance of the said Act of their intention to make this Order, and specified therein a period within which objections might be made to the making thereof. AND WHEREAS the said period has expired and the objections received have been duly considered by the Council and the Council are satisfied that it is expedient to make this Order, and that the occupiers of at least two-thirds in number of the shops to be affected by this Order approve thereof.! J NOW THEREFOKE the Council in pur- suance and exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the said Act, DO HEREBY ORDER as follows :— 1. Throughout that portion of the area of the Borough of Aberystwytn situate on the Northern side of the River Rheidol, all shops, salerooms, and premises in which the retail trade or business of a Draper, Ladies' and Gentlemen's Outfitter, Milliner, Tailor, Hatter, Hosier, Furniture Dealer, Ironmonger, Gold- smith, Silversmith, Watchmaker, Clockmaker, Optician, Jeweller, Boot and Shoe Maker, Bookseller and Stationer, is carried on shall be closed for serving customers on the several days of the week at and after the closing hours hereafter specified for each day respectively, that is to say Day of Week. Provided that it shall not be a contravention of the provisions of thisOrder to keep any shop, saleroom, or premiie8 aforesaid open until 8 o'clock in the evening on the Thursday next preceding Good Friday, or on any day next preceding a proclaimed general holiday, or on any and every week day of the seven days next preceding the 25th December in any year. 3. Where any trade or business other than any of the businesses hereinbefore mentioned is carried on in any snop, saleroom or premises as aforesaid, such shop, saleroom or premises (subject to the provisions of any other Order made under the Act and for the time being in force) may be kept open after the closing hour fixed by this Order for the purposes of any such other trade or business provided that there shall be affixed during all the time that the said shop, saleroom or premises may be so kept open for trade or business, in some conspicuous place on the exterior and in the interior of the premises, notice in legible letters of not less than one inch in length, containing the follow. ing words, namely SHOP HOURS ACT, 1904.
