Aberystwyth Poultry Show
Aberystwyth Poultry Show WELCOME REVIVAL. The Abcrystwyfh and District Poultry Show. which has been in abeyance since 1900, was revived on Thursday w:th striking success. As in former years, the show was a source of much competition. Its abandonment, nineteen years ago, lef*- a void which lias not since been filled, and the revival is taken as a happy augury of brighter times. It ig to be hoped that onco the phow gets on it: feet agfiu it will run with the characteristic success which attended if in former years. A good number of the officials in the 1900 show have passed beyond the veil, but it is gratifying to find that their places are being n! ed by others equally as enthusiastic and capable. The in- terest taken i? poultry has ncreased greatly terest taken in poultry has ncreased greatly consequent on the need for conserving food supplies, and this gave the show a decided im- petus. In addition to providing prontable entertainment to the general public, the show, winch was fostered by the Chamber of Trade, has tremendous possibilities in the way of teaching non-experts to become experts to poultry keeping. The Committee, which was composed of Mr W. Richards (chairman), Messrs W. R. Jones, David EHis, T. H. Edwards, W Miall Jones, D. Williams, Grifnth EHis, W. H. Jones, T. K. Vaughan (stationmaster), J. Garner, J Wesley Jones, George FoIIowes, R. Davics (Dolafon), T. L. Thomas (Rhydyfelin) J. Wones, and H. Hughes, were fortunate in having Sir L. Love- den Pryse, Bart., as a president, and Mr R. E. Jones, J.P., Berth, and Major L. J. Mathias, D.L., J.P., Bronpadarn, as v.ce-prcsidents. The hon .sec., on whom the bulk of the work of organising fell, was Mr. J. Griffiths, Lynwood, North-parade, whilst Mr. W. R. Jones, jewel- ler, was the treasurer. The judges were:— Live poultry (Rev. E. Lew's Jones, vice-presi- dent. Poultry Club); dressed poultry, Mr. R. T. Saycell, Uoginan; tame rabbits. Mr. H. G. Pickford; butter and eggs. Miss Davies, U.C.W. Mr. W. H. Jones, ironmonger, was I the show manager. All the ofncinis worked splendidly and share the credit for the tr.umph of the show. Tho show was held in the New Market Hall and large crowds attended. The number of entries compared favourably with former years, and the exhibits in generai excellence were all that could be desired. Some of the birds shown were of exceptional merit, and in the opinion of the Judge the show was an un- qualined success when judged Irom the quaiity of the exhibits. SECTION I. OBSERVATIONS.
October 25th, 1901. OBSERVATIONS. When thou dost -turn away. heartsick f?om the ctamorous needs of those near thee, re- member, that it is fhy own needs which are driving thee into the wildemeaa. I have not found the world unjust, or base, or dishonest. I have met much kmdness and genc-eness. and my friends aed helpers have alwelys greatly outnumbe,.ed my enemies. I have had many opponemts, but very fe.. enemies. The presence of those whom I love arouses my faculties, awakes my passions, stimulates my ener,es, kindles my spirit, quickens my whole being, and wraps me in calm content that glows and aspirM. If you want to deceive the multitude and to remain unknown to them, tell them the whole truth, live openly before them, cast away all masks, speak the inmost thought of your soul and they will spend their days and their nights in trying to sec through what t.bey think are your disguises Tjhe Coast.
