Colonel Buller destroyed a stronghold, and inflicted a loss of 40 upon the Zulus. and cap- tured 400 cattle. Umbeline, with 1,500 men, crossed Pon- gola, near Luneberg, and began massacring the friendly natives in the Transvaal. Lieut. Schwartzboff overtook him, making off with considerable stock, and killed 15 Zulus, reo covering part of the stock.
