J. Mundella M.P., for the comprehensive Bill introduced to the House of Commons for the promotion of Inter- mediate Education in Wales. At the same time, the Bill as it now stands, is in the opinion of this Meeting, in some of its most important provisions defective and unsatisfactory, and not likely to command the confidence of the overwhelming majority of the people of Wales. (a.) In the elective power given to the Jus- tices of the Peace, and (b ) To the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the School Boards to the exclusion of the remainder of the members. That this Assembly believes that the twelve elec- tive members of the County Committees should be elected by the School Boards of each County as such. This meeting further feels di3appointment at the exclusion from the control of the Commis- sioners of charities and endowments, which should be national in their application, and particularly at the exclusion of the Ashford Schools, and the Meyrick Trust Funds, and that the County Com- mittees and Commissioners have not the power to deal with certain endowments without the con- sent of their governing bodies. That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Premier, Mr Mundella, and the members of Parliament for the three Counties." 4. That this Conference desires to express its entire confidence in the Premier and his Govern- ment, and desires to record its gratitude that arbitration has succeeded in settling one of the most intricate questions that can arise between two Governments, and hopes and prays that this noble precedent will be acted upon in the future. Cynygiwyd ac eiliwyd hwn gan Mr Pryddercb, Wern, a Mr Jones, Trewyddel. 5. Cynygiwyd gan Mr Morgan Evans, Oakford* ac eiliwyd gan Mr Thomas, Solfach, "That the Ministers and members of the Congregational Churches of the counties of Cardigan, Carmarthen and Pembroke, assembled in Conference at their Annual Association at New Quay, are of opinioU that Welsh should be included amongst the subjects taught in the elementary Schools ot Wales. They much regret that there is no sys- tematic teaching of the Welsh language in the elementary Schools of the Principality, while Gaelic and the Irish are taught and paid for In Scotland and Ireland respectively."
