."Y Genlnen." The April number of "Y Geninen," just issued, contains a remarkable article from the pen of Mr Edward Foulkes, of Llanberis, a well-known Welshwriter, on "Thd War: The meditations of the man in the street." He says that the present war is the result of the Imperialist spirit of the English in its worst and latest form. The Celts are a part of the empire, for better and for worse, but thte englishman is the chief partner- the "predominant partner," as he himself says when that will answer his purpose; and this chief partner is responsible for the war and the shlame and loss that will follow it for a long time. The conscience and the voice of Wales condemn the war, and so do nearly all the Welsh newspapers and nearly all the Welsh members. Why does Wales con- demn the war ? Chiefly bc4cause she is against war. The Wol-,h people have ceased to be a warlike nation, and thely can never look upon war as a just means of settl- ing national disputes. The article, which is a lengthy one, contains indictmetats against those who may be responsible for the war. Among the other articles of interest in the numbe'r is one by Mr Marchant Wil- liams, B.A., om "The Normal Colleges of Wales." It teems with information on a subject on which the majority of Welshmen hteive very little knowledge. Professor T. Rees, M.A., writes upon "Deism and the new Theology." Cranogwen upon "The re- ligion of Wales in the next century; and the Rev J. Daniel, B.A., on "Strathclyde.' Other writers include well-known Welsh literateurs.
