PORTMADOC ST. JOHN'S CHURCH.- The Guild of Decorators decorated St. John's Church for Christmas, and the work was beautifully done. SUCCESSFUL. DOG FANCIER. -1« Jcmes, Tan Lati Llanfrothen, won four prizes at the Aberystwyth Dog Show,— three fit pj-iaes, and one special (best dog 011 the field). Mr W. JONES, MP.—Mr Wm. Jones, M.P., paid a visit to DeucLraeth, the seat of Mr Osmond Williams, and left a day or two before Christmas. THE CENTURY CLUB.—Messrs Evans and Lewis, the originators of the Century Club, distributed largo quantities of tei, flannels, Ac., at Christmas. THE LATE REV RICHARD OWEN.— Mr J. J. Hughes, Bala, delivered a lecture on the late Richaid Owen, the revivalist, at Pt-niel Chapel. Rev W. Jones presided. FOOTBALL.—A team representing Ban- gor, Cardiff, and Aberystwyth College played the local c-iub second team on Satur- day. The game resulted as follows: — Portmadoc, 2 goals; visiters, 0. FOUND DROWNED.—The body of Mr John Williams, farmer, Llanbedr, was found on the river side near Pensarn. last week. Deceased was last seen alive at Harlech fair. The jury '7ho inquired into the cause cf death returned a verdict of "Found drowned." LARCENY.—Robert Thomas, labourer, Pearhyndeudraeth, was brought up in cus- tody on Saturday, before Messrs Jonathan Da vies and J. R. Pritchard, charged with having stolen a parlour belt, valued at 8s, from the Prince of Wales Inn.—P.C. Jones (17) deposed to apprehending prisoner near the Cambrian Railway Station. The bell was found in in* pocket. The Bench or- dered the defendant to come up for judg- ment when called upon, and to pay 14s costs. THE GLASLYN COUNCIL.—Mr R. O. Williams presided at a meeting of this Council last week. —The Society for the Pre- servation of Ancient Footpaths drew at- tention to the stilo that led to Ynyscyn- haiarn Church footpath. It was resoive 1 to ask the owner of the land to out the footpaths in proper order.—No infectious disease bad broken out in the district dur- ing tlie last 12 months.—The Local Govern- ment Board enquired what wai; being done to supply Prenteg and Beddgelert with water, and the Clerk was instructed to write explainm:? how rrvttfrs stood. POLICE COURT.—Before Messrs Ro- bert Thomas (in the chair), R. O. Wil- liams, and Jonathan Davies, P.C. Jones (47) proved that David Arthur Owelt Up- per High street, was drunk at Tremadoc, ou the 29th nit. The accused, who ad- mitted the offence, was fined 2s 6d, costs 8s 6d. Tlie same officer also charged John Piercv, Smith street, with being drunk and disorderly, on the same date. The witness said that Owen was helplessly drunk, and both he and Piercy had to be locked up.—Fined 5s. costs 8s f)d.-IVtr J. Humphreys asked for the transfer of the licence of the Glandwyfach Inn from Harrv Jones to Griffith Oven, and it was granted.
