FOLEY, Esq., President. Summary of ANNUAL REPORT for the Year ending December 31st, 1912. Your Directors have much pleasure in placing before you the results of another year's work. The year was distinguished by the biggest epidemic of strikes ever experienced in this country-affecting, as they did, the Industrial classes in every part of the United Kingdom added to this, our Staff took upon themselves the responsibility of securing for our Policy- holders and others the advantage, of the National Health Insurance Act, through the National Amalgamated Approved Society. Both of these exceptional circumstances have militated somewhat against our rate of progress. It is therefore very satisfactory that, owing to the untiring activity of the Company's representatives, notwithstanding all drawbacks, these good results have been achieved. A valuation of the business of the Company has been made by the Company's Consulting Actuary, k. M. MOORE, Esq., who reports a surplus of £247.853 after providing for all liabilities, and adding £ 70,000 Lo the Reserve Fund, making that Fund £ 170,000. TOTAL INCOME. The Total Income for the year amounted to iC3,047,869 Is lid., being an increase ofF.98,202 19s. 2d. over that of the previous year. The number of Policies issued during the year in this Branch was 25,279, assuring the sum of Z2,090,507, and producing a New Annual Premium Income of 691,633 is. 4d. CLAIMS. The Company has paid 135,287 Life Claims, Grants, Matured Endowments, Accident and Employer's Liability Claims during the year, amounting with Bonuses and outstanding Claims, to £1,119,065 14s. id., which, added to the sums previously paid, make a total of iRI3,819,330 Os. 10d.
