The War. LIEUT. M. H. LLEWELYN WOUNDED. I We regret to learn that Lieut. Mor- ton H. Llewelyn, M.E., of the Tunnel- ling Corps., R.E., son of Ald. R. Llew- elyn, managing director of the Bwllfa and Merthyr Dare Collieries, and High Sheriff of Brecknock, and Mrs. Llew- elyn, has been wounded in France on May 13. He now lies in Newcastle Hospital. Lieut. Llewelyn was par- ried last April, and was wounded shortly after his return from his honey- moon. He has also a brother in the Army, viz., Lieut. Griffith Llewelyn. Two Brothers.—Mr. Archie Harm- ston, Aberdare, who joined the Motor Transport some months ago, is now in France, busily engaged in conveying powder and shot to the men in the front. Mr. J. C. Harmston joined the Royal Garrison Artillery a few weeks ago, and is stationed at Alverstoke, Hants. Both are the sons of Mr. A. E. Harmston, Cardiff Street. Solicitors Join.—Mr W. H. He writes that he is getting on so well that he expects to be removed from hospital to England in the course of a few days. His welcome home will, we feel sure, be one of the best. FUNERAL.—The interment of the remains of Mr. Joseph Young, Allen Street, took place in Maesyrarian Cemetery on Monday afternoon, the Vicar officiating. Deceased was 68 years of age, and greatly respected. The chief mourners were: Messrs. Geo. Watkins, son-in-law; Joseph Powell, grand-son; David Powell, Brecon, brother-in-law, and Wm. Powell, Gelli- gaer, nephew. NEW THEATRE.—The theatre man- agement of the Workmen's Hall always- get into the front rank of entertain- ment, just what the workmen require. For Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week the holiday attractions are really beautiful. In addition to- the usual star programme Mr. Cur- now has engaged that spectacular sensation, entitled, Divorced." This- in itself should secure a record attend- ance. There will also be shown the first chapter of that magnificently at- tractive serial drama, "The Girl of Lost Island." On Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week My Ma- donna is being screened. A most pathetic heart-throbbing story of in- tense interest, it grips the beholder from the start to the finish. The story of Robert the artist and his model will claim the attention of all picture-lovers. The plot is bewilderingly fascinating, and really well written. NAVAL BATTLE. It is feared that two well-known local lads have lost their lives in the big naval fight which took place last week. They are Able- Seamen David Jones, whose parents live at Glynmynach Cottages, and John Hopkins, son of Mr. James Hopkins, of 54 High Street. No official intimation that they have been lost has yet been received by the distressed parents, but as both lads were supposed to have been on board H.M.S. Invincible little hopes are entertained of their being among the survivors. Both lads, who were not 20 years of age, were home on fur- lough a fortnight ago. JACK TAR'S DAY.
