The following appeared in the above committee's report:— Staff Changes.—The following ap- pointments of students about to leave the Training Colleges were made, the engagements to commence after the midsummer holidays and to be regarded as temporary during the continuance of war conditions :—Mr. B. School ap- plied for the Committee's sanction to the appointment of Mrs. Jane Kenny as uncertificated teacher after the Midsummer Holidays, it was resolved that the appointment be. sanctioned on the terms and con- ditions relating to the appointment of married women in the Commit- tee's service.—A letter was read from Private W. J. Williams, for- merly an uncertificated teacher at Glynhafod School. stating that he had been in Hospital and had been Ub.cod in luictee with a view to his being transferred into the lieserve (Class W) for civil employment. It was re- solved that Mr. Williams be offered a 'temporary appointment in the event of his being transferred into the R eselTe. Cwmaman Boys' School. -A re- port was read from the head master of the Cwmaman Boys' School stat- ing that the accommodation of the School was already insufficient, and that after the Midsummer Holidays there would be no room to accommo- date the new Standard 1, numbering about SO pupils. It was resolveÜ that temporary accommodation be [ secured in Cwmaman, and the Direc- tor was instructed to make enquir- ies as to suitable chapel schoolrooms in the district.

Griffiths' shop, an informal presentation meet- ing was held, when Private W. M. Cooper, Welsh Regiment, of 4 Maple Terrace, Garden City, was presented with a glow wristlet watch on behalf of the Heroes' Fund. Mr. Jonathan Jones-, 106 John Street, made the presentation. Private Cooper, who has been in France over eight months, is only 18 years of age. He has been sent back to Blighty because he is under age. SUDDEN DEATH. Mr. Thomas Jones, 15 Graig Avenue, passed away very suddenly on Friday last. De- ceased, who was out on the previous Wednesday, was well known through- out the Aberdare Valley as Thomas Jones Contractor, having been for many years a contractor under the P.D. Co. at their various collieries. He was a faithful member of Beth- lehem Chapel. The funeral took plfice on Tuesday. Rev. H. P. Jen- kins, Saron, Aberaman, officiated. The interment took place at Tre- degar. WESLEYAN MISSION. The Sunday School anniversary was held on Sunday. The services were con- ducted Morning, by Mr. W. After spending 22 months in France Cor- poral Charles Austin has been enjoy- ing a well-earned leave. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Austin, Mountain Ash Inn, and at that hostel he was entertained and honoured by his old workmates of the Under- ground Mechanical Staff of the Navigation Colliery. Mr. Llewelyn Jones presided, and Mr. Eb Rees, on behalf of the staff, presented the cheery Corporal with a beautiful oxydised watch. Mr. Austin respond- ed. The artistes were Messrs. U. Application of Cleaners.-A letter was read from the Municipal Em- ployees' Association asking for an increase in the wages of cleaners equivalent to the advance already granted to other departments of the District Council. It was resolved to recommend that the War Bonus at present being paid be increased by 2.5 per cent. in each case.
