ON lr,E-AVE.-Pte Aichie Andrews, Cheshire Regiment, eon of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Andrews, 6 Clitlon Crescent, is now home on leave from the 3rd General Military Hos- pital, Newport, where he is under- going a treatment for malaria, which he contracted v, hilst on ac- tive service in the East. Prior to joining the colours in July, 1917 he was a chemist at Mr. Tudor Wil- liams', Abi rdare. He was drafted to the East in January, n18, and was in EJpt and Piti- His many friends gave him a g re- ception on his arrival home. SOCIAL BVENING, On New Year's Eve Beulah Church held a tea, concert and watchnight service. At the tables were: -1 Mrs. Maria Jones, and Miss Elvira W aterman 1 zie Morgan; 2 Mrs. Parry and Mrs. Crook; 3 Mrs. D. Waterman, Mrs. Jones, and Miss Elvina Waterman 4 Mrs. W7. Stephens, Miss Til ley Stephens, and Mrs. Howard. W7aier attendant, Mr. Stephen Cowdrey. Cutters, Mr. Arthur Williams Mrs. W. Jones. Mrs. H. Starr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Geo. Eynon. Messrs D. Water- man and Sam Stephens acted super- visors. The Rev. D. Rees, pastor, presided at the "oncert. The follow- ing took part:—Miss Webb, Messrs. Sam Stephens, D. Waterman, and Stephen Cowdrey. Afterwards a watchnight service was conducted by the pastor. Mr. Arthur Williams was secretary. WHIST DRIVE AND DANCE.- On New Year's eve the P.D. clerical staff held a whist drive and dance at the Church Hall. Mr. R. ^W Rob- erts, cashier, presided, and there were over 150 present. The M.C. of the whist was Mr. Dd. Badham, whilst Mr. W. H. Perrv was M.C. of the dance. Music was supplied by Mr. Wr. H. Burrows' band assisted by Mr. Austin Williams. Refreshments were provided bv Misses Jackson. Ethel Morris, Edith Jones, Mrs. Mills. Misses Preece, Miss Lawrence, Miss Williams, and Miss Rees. The winers of the whist were: -Gentlp- men:-(1) Mr. W. WTilliains; (2) Leonard Prestwood. Ladies (1) Mies Ceinwen Morris; (2) Miss Luck. Mr. H. W. Roberts and Mrs. Stanley Humphreys presented the prizes. Mr Arthur Andrews was secretary, and the treasurer was Mr. Stanley Hum- phreys.
