Carmarthenshire Monthly I Meeting. The CaWinistic Methodists held their Monthly Meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 28th and 29th at Rhydoymmerau. The place being rather inconvenient, there were not many ministers and deacons present. At two o'clock the first day, a conference was held, presided over by Mr John Hughes, Llanelly, when resolutions relating tocon- nexional and other matters were parsed, amongst othera the following :-(1.) That we adopt the suggestion of Miss Howelle, B.A., Bcttws, to 11 t, present certiticates to all candidates in Class IV of County Sunday School examination, the standard being i and not half the number of marks as usual ;.2.) That all delegates appointed by churches to the district meetings are entitled to vote on all matters under discussion, whether they be officers in the respective churches or otherwisa. (3.) That Water-itieet Chapel be asked tojhold.exa ninations of ministerial candidates in August next. (t.) The Chuiches were eager to call the attention of members and others to the Hechabite order, as a form of encouraging temperance piinciples. The following morning a discussion took place on the subject ot Religious education," which was opened by Rev J. Foulkes, Llanelly. Several ministers and others took part afterwards. Public services were held first evening at Llansawel and Rhydcymmerau; and throughout the fallowing day at last-mentioned place. The following ninis- ters took put Revs Foulkes, Llane'ly Morris, Ptnygraig; Thomas, Llandovery; Owen, Burry Port Evans, Gelycwm Williams, Llanddeusant Phillips, Siloh Morgan and Lewis, Ferryside; Job, Consvil Davies, Brynamman Parry, Llan- fynydd Davies, Carmarthen and Jones, Kidwelly. Tho congregations were large, and preaching effective. Votes of condolence were also passed with the widows of Rev Rees Jones, Ammanford, aud Alderman D. Griffiths, Kidwelly.

Alleged L roeiiy at Carmarthen. -wififr&ay (tfie v3rr I 'BnméJ White, the Grange), and Mr C. W. Jones, Piccou-t': TaocsiiS Thomas (" Tom Strong ") j Mill-street, was charge* ^vith stealing a pair of [ baskets containing a quantity of mi8",elinoeoas articles. ) P.O. Thomas Davies said About 10.45 p.m. yesterday John Davies, butcher, Ferryside, made a complaint to me. I went to defendant's house in Mill-street I raised him out of bed. He said, Yes, I found the baskets in front of the Castle.' I intended sending out the crier after them in the morning and I hope I shall have something for fiuding them." He brought the baskets down- stairs to me. I then called the prosecutor in. These are the baskets (produced). Thty contained a ladies' cape, butter, sugar, candles, soap, collars and frnits, a comb, and a small box of mustard. They wuuld be worth about X3. I told the defendant to dress and come with me. He did so. He said again that he had found the baskets in front of the Castle Inn, and that he had taken charge of them lest they should be stolen (laughter). The Bench adjourned the case until the following morniug for the appearance of tho Prosecutor. Defendant was liberated on his own recognisences. The adjourned case was heard on Thursday (the 7th inst) before the Mayor, Mr C W Jones, and Mr Howeil Howells. John Davies, Bristol House, Ferryside, grocer and butcher, said that when he went into tho Castle Inn, Priory-street, he put tho baskets outside the door. He then came out and went over to the butcher's shop. On coming out he found the baskets gone. He was told that" Tom Strong had been at tho door so he went to tbo police. He afterwards saw the baskets at Tom Strong's house. Mary Ann Griffiths, a lodger at the Castle Inn, said she saw Tom Strong about the door of the hOtse, Defendant said he thought he might as well get 2s Gd for finding the baskets as anybody else. The Mayor said that defendant had placed himself in a very sf), ions predicament; but he wou'd have tho Lenefi. of the doubt and the case would be dismissed.

Mr Thomas Walter?, solicitor, who appeared for the plaintiff, said that defendant purchased the holding some 15 years ago, and the conveyance contained a special reserra.'io'i that the sale was made subject to a yearly rent charge o: jE5, of which £ 3 JOs was payable to the vicar cf St. Peter's Carmarthen, and the r. Mt (, £ 1 10s) to the Vicar of Llanilwch. Up to three years ago, the defendant had, with more or less reluctance, regularly met the demand, but he now wished to dispute his liability, and desired to know how end whv he shouid pay the charg.
