THE SIXTIETH ANNUAL REPORT. rij'HE Sixtieth Annual Report of THE MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE COM- PANY OF NEW YORK for the rear 1902 siu>w.s that it is not only the LARGEST LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE WORLD, but also that the BENEFITS obtained by its Policyholders are UNRIVALLED. The favour in which the Company is held as shown by the enormous business which it. is able to attract without any increase in the ratio of expenses to income. The PREMIUM Income for 1902 was 110,800,397, an increase of £ 869,214 for the year. The INTEREST Income was RZ,050,546, an in-erf..t;se of £ 262,478. And the TOTAL IN- COME was L15,148,791, an1 increase of £ 880,948. The TOTAL FUNDS on December 31st, 1902, were L78,089,283, an increase on the year of 16.113,507, and the SURPLUS OF ASSETS over all Liabilities was £ 13,991,627, am 'Increase of £ 1,016.970. THE MUTUAL OF NEW YORK has been at work in the United Kingdom for some sixteen years, and has obtained so firm a. hold on the public, owing to its simple (conditions: and prompt pavment of claims, that the BRITISH BRANCH is MUCH LARGER than the MAJORITY OF BRITISH COMPANIES. In 1902, 2,195 new British Policies <were, issued assuring £1,416,734 at new premiums of £ 78,031. A further sum of 5.888 was received for the 'grant of annuities. THE BRITISH PREMIUM INCOME, ex- cluding annuities, was £ 598,636. THE MUTUAL makes a great feature of in- vestment policies, and ate favourable terms and laibundaut security have attracted to it the patronage of the wealthy classer. During the past four years fthe Company has issued from the London Office seven Policies for £ 20,000 each, one for L25,000, one for P,50,000, and three for £ 75,000 and! upwards. But LARGE OPERATIONS, however gTatify- ino- they may fooas evidence of public confidence, are the LEAST; IMPORTANT features of THE MUTUAL OF NEW YORK. As the business is conducted solely in,t,he interest fof the Policy- holdters—there are no shareholders—it he DOMI- NATING AIM of the management as to secure the BEST POSSIBLE RESULTS FOR POLICYHOLDERS. The report) for 1902 con- tains many examples of British Policies on "the 15-year Distribut-ion plan which have matured oduTing the past year. Under «ome of these .policies the assured are morw receiving A RETURN of the whole of their premiums. IMPROVED AT' 3 AND 3* PER CENT. COMPOUND INTEREST. They have thus obtained1 t-hedr life insurance FOR NOTHING, and have treiceived all their capital back with MORE INTERiEST than they could I have obtained on the best, Stock Exchange I securities.
