We are glad to note that County Councillor F. H. Jotham has | promised to preside. We have no doubt a substantial sum will be realised. The men have been working hard in the disposal of tickets, and have hi(I to order a second supply. The Orphan al ways appeals to the sympathies of Englishmen and Welshmen, 0 0 0 ■ „■ ■- Tin re seems to be a bit of rivalry between our local butchers. The entertainment will be free, but a eolleetion. •; A I,) o 0 A certain Penarth gentleman, on the olst of March I i.s:, begged to inform a lady friend of his that the morrow would be the first of April—All Fools' day By post, the next morning, came a letter-ullstamped. Dancing was attempted, but, I am told, "the light steppers" could not keep time to the music- i s 0 0 0 A day or two ago 1 heard it remarked that the District Council had decided not to allow donkeys on the Esplanade this year, when the reply quickly came "Then in future the Esplanade will be deserted." 0 0 0 The first of the excursion boats ran from the pentirtil Pier last Thu&day, yet it was not opened till Saturday. Queer? o 0 o I am asked to answer the following question, but it being one beyond me, I insert it here, with the hope that one or other of my readers will be able. to explain it:— f o u 0 Cogan has an annual Flower Show which is most sncceessful, and which is very largely subscribed to by Penarth people. Why can't one be held every year at Penaith, attended with at least the same amount of sliecess o (I 0 Penarth is a dend-alive town, whilst Cogan is a go-ahead village, and contains a plucky lot. With- out a doubt, this is, to an extent, why Penarth has no flower show. ■■■ ■ oo# ■ «*• To be or not to be, tkat is the quefiion wliioh ig Occupying the minds of some thousands of people thio week, who want to know if the weather is going to be fine or not, during the Easter holidays. o o 0 The football match, between Penaith and Cardiff for the benefit of the Penarth Cricket Club, which yas postponed a week or so ago, is to be played, haar, next Saturday week.
