-=; Weekly Notes by Qtii-Ekqiiequipi —— The Editor does not hold himself responsible for the opinions expressed, in these notes. The pavement artist outside the Rectory assured me that the other Day he received .£6 sterling from passers-by. 0 0 0 At,the annual police inspection last Monday at Barry Dock, Captain Parry complimented the Penarth division by saying- that their cutlass drill was the best he had seen. o o o The Penarth Entomological Society spent last Satlilrdayaflernoon exploring the Kymin, the residence of Mr Sidney Balchelor- J. P. In their researches they discovered that portions of the house had been erected between 300 and 400 years ago; that some of ttie vails were 8 feet in thickness, and that the base of one chimney stack covered an area equal to a good sized roum, The party were afterwards entertained to an al fresco tea in the demesne. one It may not be generally known that Mr Arthur Lewis, the barrister, whose subtle foren-ic ability was en evidence at Wedneaday's licensing- sessions is a son f the Bishop of Llandaff. OOO Quite a plethora of local justices graced the magis- ?-, 6 terial bench last Wednesday, but only Messrs Batchtlor, Lewellen Wood, and 0. H. Joaei spake 0 0 0 Penartb is really phenomenal in the matter of public Jbouses. Cefn Mably is the only addilional one in the I district duiing the last two decades. -=.=-=_==:=- --=-2:¡;=-=- Quite a galaxy of local teetotallers were also in Court, including Miss Tregelles (President clf the B.W.T.A ); Mrs. Trow, (Secretary of the B.W.T.A.); Mrs'Kemps the Revs. W. G. Davies, Isaac 0. Stalberg, J. M. Saunders, Messrs, Brice. Huntley, E. Seagrave, and W. B. Shepherd. t 0 0 Enpassant, they say that the Rev J M. Saunders is the. ottIN, M.A. in Penarth. 0 0 0 County Councillor Jothain is so enamoured of gar- dening that he foregoes his siesla.- o 0 0 There is a local tradesman who claims direct and unbroken descent from the Tudors. Some people are acknowledged wonders but here's a Two-dor 0 00 A certain gentleman has for years suspected that our sage School Board have been spending a lavish sum of money on the School playgrounds, and he has written by righ t of being a ratepayer, demanding an inspection of the Board's account books. The clerk ha* acceded 'to this, so some revelations may there- fore be expected. O o 0 A sound mind in a sound body is what; any School Board should seek to compass, but in the name of the blessed goddess Vacuity, what possessed our School Board to erect swings ,iu the boys' department, where the infants ard compelled to pass und re-pass four times daily ? The accidents there have been legion. Truly the ratepayers are a long-suffering people. 0 0 0 At. Mouday's extraordinary School Board Meeting:, v 7 t'be Rector significantly remarked at an awkward pause, Some of us feel shaky about the next eleclion J'- A sickly smile stole round certain jibe. Next Novem- ber will be the death knell for more than one fitting member. At the same meeting the Cogan Vice-chairman observed that Cogan would go solid for any one man she fancied. I- I should ]ike to be that man ejaculated the Penarth Vice-chairman.
