Hymn- books are provided. THE NEW CURATE OF ST. PAUL'S.—Out of over fortv applicants, the Rev J. Jones, B.A., Curate of Berse, near Wrexham, has been appointed Curate of St Paul's, Colwyn Bay, in succession to the Rev Meredith J. Hughes, who accompanied the Rev Canon Roberts from Brymbo. Mr Jones took his degree at Lampeter in 1888, and the following year took Honours (3rd Class Math. Mod.) in the University of Oxford. He was ordained Deacon in 1891, and Priest in 1892, and is twenty-six years of age. THIS EVENING'S CONVERSAZIONE.—A represen- tative Committee, in connection with St Paul's, with Mr James (N.P. Bank), have organised for this evening, as may be seen from our advertising columns, a social evening in the Public Hall, from 6.30 to 9 o'clock. The Hall will be converted into a drawing room. Tea and coffee will be served, curiosities exhibited, and the first rate limelight views and the bright musical programme, cannot fail to make an enjoyable evening. The proceeds will be devoted to the Church Fund. THE WINTER ENTERTAINMENTS.—The Com- mittee of the Colwyn Bay Winter Entertainments, have been fortunate in securing Mr M. B. Spurr, from the Egyptian Hall, Picadilly and Court Theatre, Sloane Square, to give the first enter- tainment on Tuesday, November 13th. Many of our readers will remember Mr Spurr at Llandudno, at the Pier Concerts last summer, and how he charmed the audience with his beautiful zither solos, and kept them in roars of laughter with his musical sketches, especially the pantomine sketch. ENGEDI CALVINISTIC METHODIST CHAPEL, COLWYN BAY.—A preaching meeting will be held in the Engedi C.M. Chapel on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 13th and 14th (on the Tuesday, at 7 p.m.; and on the Wednesday, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6.30 p.m.), the officiating ministers being the Revs John Pugh, Cardiff; John Williams, Brynsiencyn; and John Evans, Llanfaircaereinion. M'Cullagh, B.A. THE ENGLISH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, COLWYN BAY.—A series of English Evangelical Services will be conducted, by the Rev John Pugh, Leader of the South Wales (Presbyterian) Forward Move- ment, at the English Presbyterian Church, at half- past seven on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, November 13th and 14th and at the Public Hall, at half-past seven on Thursday and Friday even- ings, November 15th and 16th, and at 8.15 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th. CHURCH CONFERENCE AT ST. ASAPH.—On Wednesday, October 31st, 300 out of the 333 lic- ensed clergy in the St Asaph Diocese met in conference in the Cathedral city. They were addressed by the Bishop, who said that such a gathering was unique in the history of that Diocese. Referring to Disestablishment, he ex- horted them, if their consciences were clear on the matter, to take a firm stand by what they believed to be the cause of truth and justice.
