Ladies ?nd Gentlemen, In response to the expressed wish of many of the Electors, I have pleasure in offering myself as a Candidate at the ensuing Election of Urban District Councillors, trusting that, if the Electors should do me the honor of electing me as one of their representatives, my former experience of public work, both as Chairman of a large Poor- Law Union, and as Vice-Chairman of the School Board of a County Borough, will be of assistance in the settlement of some of the important questions which during the next three years will demand the careful attention of the Urban District Council. I am moreover encouraged in my Candidature by the number of votes recorded in my favor at the last Election. Since adopting Colwyn Bay as my home, I have closely watched its development as a favourite seaside resort, and I think I am fully conversant with all the measures which are necessary to continue the progress which has been made, and to make The Bay" take a foremost position among Welsh Watering-places, both for Residents and Visitors. I should heartily support the purchase, on fair and reasonable terms, of "The Woods," so as to secure for the Town in perpetuity a lovely bit of woodland scenery, which is one of the greatest charms to Visitors, and which, if once lost, could never be replaced. The question of an extended and improved system of drainage, of improvements of the foreshore, and of an ample supply of pure water, should also receive my most careful consideration. In dealing with these several matters, I should not forget that, while efficiency is the truest economy, the future prosperity of Colwyn Bay largely depends on avoiding alll unnecessary and extravagant expenditure and keeping the Rates within reasonable limits. If you do me the honor to elect me, I shall go to the Council as an Independent member, and with the sole object of using my judgment and experience for the benefit of all sections of my fellow townsmen, and the welfare of the Town in which we have all so great an interest. I have the honor to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, CHAS. JEFFRIES. The Sycamores, Lawson Road, Colwyn Bay. 371- THE URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL OF COLWYN BAY & COLWYN.
