Conway Board of Guardians. At the Conway Board of Guardians' monthly meeting on Friday, June 5th, the Chairman (Rev. W. Venables-Williams) presided, and there were also present the Vice-Chairinan (Mr John Davies), Alderman Hugh Hughes, County-Councillor Hugh Owen, the Rev. David Davies, and Messrs John Porter, J. Allanson Picton, Edward Williams, Richard Jones, Daniel Phillips, Robert Evans, Hugh Caraher, Owen Williams, Thomas Roberts, J. E. Fincham, G. O. Jones, W. F. Jones, Robert Ellis, and Henry Williams, and the Clerk (Mr T. E. Parry). THE CHAIRMANSHIP. The minutes having been read relative to the election of Chairman at the previous meeting, the Chairman said,—I was not aware until now of the state of the voting on the appointment of Chair- man. Three voted for me and two against. I am very reluctant to occupy the position with such a majority as that. Mr Porter There were very few in the Board- room. The members had not arrived owing to the hour of meeting. The Chairman If there is any unanimous desire to appoint another Chairman, I will not in any way whatever stand in your way. Several Members: "No" and "Certainly not." The matter then dropped. THE COUNTY RATE. Demands were received from the Carnarvonshire County Council and the Denbighshire County Council for £ 994 and £ 414 respectively, as the Board's contribution to the County Rate.
