H, Shakespeare, M.A.. of Norwich, will preach in the above-named Church on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th, after which the Rev F. C. Spurr will occupy the pulpit, and con- duct Bible-readings during the week. The Rev J. H. Shakespeare, M.A., is well-known as the organiser and Chairman of the Baptist Church Extension Fund, and is one of the most promising of the leading ministers in the denomination. The Rev F. C. Spurr has also a splendid reputation as a successful missioner, and is now engaged as such by the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Ireland. It is anticipated that these services will result in great blessing to both residents and visitors. GAZETTE NEWS.—The following appears in the London Gazette of Tuesday Night, July 7th:- "The Companies' Acts.—First meetings.—The Colwyn Bay Pier Company, Limited, Colwyn Bay, creditors, July 17th, 11 a.m. contributories, July 17th, noon, Official Receiver's Office, Chester." LOCAL BILLS IN PARLIAMENT.—On Thursday afternoon, July 2nd, the Royal Assent was given by Commission to a number of Acts of Parliament, including the Colwyn Bay and Colwyn District Gas Act, and Provisional Orders Confirmations Bills made (under the Electric Lighting Act) bv the Board of Trade and relating to Colwyn Bay and Colwyn.—In the House of Lords on Friday, July 3rd, Local Government Provisional Order Bill No. 8 (relating to Conway and Colwyn Bay) was read a third time, and passed. A NEW SONG BY A COLWYN BAY COMPOSER. —One of the new songs sung by Mr Atkinson (of the Town Band) is "The Knight's Love Song," composed by Mr T. J. Linekar (under his nom-de- plume of "Raymond Berenger"), and dedicated to Mr and Mrs W. H. Roberts. The words, by Verax," are very taking, especially those quoted on the title-page of the song (which, by the way, is published by Mr John Blackley, London, at 4s):— And my love shall be as true to thee, As the sea to its ebb and flow; While the sun doth shine, my heart is thine, My love of years ago." THE RHOS WEIR.—A correspondent writes to the Manchester Guardian (July z, 1896) :Those who visit the coast of North Wales should not omit to go at low water to the Fish Weir at Rhos, Colwyn Bay. Though a Pier has now been made there, it has fortunately not in any way interfered with the Weir, and to those who are interested in natural history this is one of the greatest treats they could imagine. There is such a glorious un- certainty about the catch. One day perhaps a solitary dogfish will reward, or rather disappoint, the anxious owner, whilst on another a number and variety may be caught, as was the case when I saw it drawn a few days ago. There were a dozen fine trout, most of them about 2lb in weight, one small codfish, a plaice 2lb in weight, a small sole, a small gurnet of no value, but an exceedingly interesting and curious little fellow, sandeels in great numbers, and about a dozen specimens of the garfish. It is seldom that in two consecutive tides the same sort of fish will be in the net, unless a shoal of herrings are about, when 1,000 to 1,500 will be in the weir at one time, and it is busy work to get them out before the tide rises again." THE LLANDRILLO SUNDAY SCHOOL TREAT.— The members of the Sunday School of the Parish Church of Llandrillo, were entertained on Tues- day, July 7th, by Mrs Venables-Williams, to an excellent treat. Tea was laid out on the Vicarage

lawn, and was thoroughly enjùyed by the children, lull justice being done to the plentiful supply of cake, buns, etc. After tea, an adjournment was made to an adjoining field, where various games were played and an athletic contest held, prizes being presented by Mrs Williams. This contest differed frorn any we have heard of, lor not only were the successful competitors rewarded with valuable prizes, but, through the kindness of Mrs \Viihams, a consolation prize was given to each of the unsuccessful competitors, so that each one of the scholars went home the happy possessor of a memento of a very pleasant day spent. The children dispersed, after having seconded, with three good cheers, a vote of thanks proposed, to Mrs Williams, by the Rev W. T. Davies (Curate), for the excellent tea and prizes they had received. ORGAN RECITAL.-Alr Sidney Vinning gave another recital in S. Thomas' Church, Rhyl, on Sunday evening last.
