RHUDDLAN. WELSH LECTUBE.—On Thursday evening the Rev. D. Oliver Edwards, Trefgarn, Pem- brokesbire, delivered a leotnre at the Baptist Chapel on The People's Proverbs." The Bev. John Williams presided, and the audience crowded the building. THE WHITE GLOVE MINSTR-Eis.-In aid of the Poor Belief Fund a splendid entertainment was held last Mondby night in the boys' eohool- room, when, owing to the kindness of Mr J. D. Asher, the White Glove Minstrels gave their renowned entertainment to a crowded and appreciative audience, who were kept in roars of laughter by the performers' witty jokes and sayings. Everything passed off remarkably well and great credit is due to Mr Aaher and the members of the troupe for the able manner in which the whole entertainment was aonducted. A more successful one has never been held in Rhuddlan.

SALES.—Mr T C Amos conducted a very important Household Furniture sale at 8 East Parade, on Thursday last, at which good prices were realized it will be seen from onr advertising columns Mr Amon con- ducts a very important sale at Snowden's Temperance Hotel. THE FISHING SEASON.—We have heard of several nice baskets of Fish having been caught this week, and also that the mot killing flies were some of liatwood's MUtCH BROWNS There is now on view in Hatwood's window, in Queen Street, a very nice little show of Rods and Tackle, which Anglers are respectfully invited to inspect COMING ENTEBTAINMENT.—Dr. Girdlestone will preside one evening next week over a very well-spoken of entertainment advertised elsewhere. The press speaks highly of Mrs Miller Dixon's 11 lucid style of describing the various historical scenes that are depicted by the aid of lime-light. SUMMER BAND.—The Rhyl Improvement Com- missioners last year refused to give Mr Gilding any subsidy at all, merely paying his printing expenses. The Commitee are now proposing that he shall have 2100 for the ensuing season. Following the example of Irish and Hawarden landlords, several evictions have taken place in Rhyl; the disturbed "tenants were some long standing corns and the agent" Lawrence's Corn Oure VESTRY.-MR W. Conwy Bell presided over a vestry, held at Rhuddlan, on Friday, when over- seers were nominated. Only five ratepayers were present. A BLIND YOUNG MAN from Penrbyndeudraeth will deliver a temperance lecture in Queen Street Chapel on Tuesday evening next. The chair will be taken at 7 o'clock by G. T. Evans, Esq., N. & S. Wales Bank. DEATH OF JOHN BIRIGHT -Scarcely anywhere in the country was the regret at the death of the "Tribune of the people" keener than it was in Rhyl. The sad news was first known here on Wednesday afternoon. He was in his 78th year and had been afflicted with a lingering illness from the middle of last year. He will be remem- bered in history principally for the part he took in the anti-corn law agitation; but to the bulk of the present generation his memory will be evere green for the patriotism he displayed at the timl Mr Gladstone joined hands with Mr Parnely Honest John Bright then preferred his countra to his party, and thus contributed another act towards earning the apt eulogium which Sir William Harcourt has just as the deceased states- man, liz, that no greater or purer man ever adorned tho political life of England. MB J. S. Greenhalgh, a gentleman who has owned property in this town for many years, and who was ore of the warmest promoters of the Winter Gardens, has added to his possessions that old established hotel, "the Queen," on the Parade LETHE.
