Orchards. Fish Ponds, Walled Kitchen and Flower Gardens,a Lodge and Cottage, proiitic Arable, Pasture, and Meadow I and, consisting of about 86A. 2R. 27P. Thii agreeable retreat is thus described by the Rev. W. Cox, in his Standard History of the County ■•The neighbourhood of Abergavenny abounds with delightful situations. and one of the most delightful is Twy Dee, which stands at a distance of a mile from the Town, to the south of the road leading to Ross. The House and Grounds occupy the brow and sides of a j»-ntle rise, which gradually slopes to the banks of the Usk part of Abergavenny, surmounted by the Tower and the Church, appears sweeping round the foot of the Derry; the semicircle of Mountains from the Great Skirrid to the Blorange, contrasted in their height, shape, and colour, swell from the Vale, and are peculiarly dis criminated. This spot exhibits the striking characteris- tics of a Monmouthshire view, where the extremes of -wildness and fertility are like the colours of a picture blended into each other, the effect is different, but equally pleasing in Spring ano Autumn; in Spring, the intermixture of Corn. Pasture and Wood, form a mantle of verdure, which gradually becomes less vivid until it harmonises with the ruffled tops of the Mountains In Autumn, the different hues are strongly opposed, and form a more variegated though less harmonious picture." This is not the novel strain of fairy tales without foun- dation, or the puff of an Auctioneer, but the language of a strict observer, influenced by the Claudelike Scenery of this renowned and celebrated little Domain. Indeed this ELYSl\N ABODE, commanding the extensive and ENCHANTING PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE USK meandering through its fertile vale, encircled by the Noble Amphitheatre of the Welsh Mountains in perspective, and enriched with every comfort and luxury which a rich soil, finely watered, can produce, renders it the admira- tion of every beholder. The one approach to this little Paradise is protected by a Lodge of the prettiest style, and in good repair; beside which, embosomed in the Park, is a Romantic and pleasant Cottage and Garden, tastefully arranged, situated in a cluster of majestic oak, and fit for the residence of a small Genteel Family, or an AM ATKUTt OF FISHING OR SHOOTING, ot the retired Habitation of the Studious Man.
