D PROSPECTUS. has long been considered a reproach to this Country, "»t tho.emincnce of its Painters is neitherso extensively so justly known as it deserves to be; and lliat their °R'TS' (S,LET'IER P'e fancy, of pathos, or of humour), *ve n°t been sufficiently diffused by Engraving. No °rk, containing a Selection of the finest Productions ° the British Pencil, so collated as to impress the Public Renerally with a correct idea of the invention, the feei- ng. and the power, of the BRITISH SCHOOL, has ""htrto been published. Numerous sptendd Engravings of some fine Works of ""j ^r,'sts» honourable alike to Painting, to Engraving, to our Country, have appeared separately and inci- entally; but to manv, these, from their size and price. are unattainable. The beautiful Productions of both Arts, which decorate our Annual Publications. cannot, all small book plates, render justice to the enpression "'hlch the Painter has given to his subject; nor can they convey to Foreigners a just estimate of the talent which Produced them by these Works our Artists are raised No higher in their opinion than as skilful illustrators of books. In this publication of the GALLERY OF BRITISH ART, it is intended to prorluce a Work truly NATION A L in ^hich a selection from the most beautiful Pictures of British Painters, commencing with the era of Sir J- Reynolds, will be engraved, in the finest line manner, ipon a size (nearly 12 inches by 9), which scale will not only enable the eminent Historical and Landscape En- gravers, who are already engaged, to preserve the ex- pression and refinement of the Originals, hut will also put the Work within the reach of those who, with limited raeans, have, from nature or acquirement, a feeling for such productions. Messrs FINDEN are exceedingly gratified in stating, that several distinguished Patrons of Art have opened « their Galleries to them for this adventurous undertaking K nd that the PRESIDENT and MEMBERS of the ROYAL "CADTMY have, in the most kind and liberal manner, Promised their support and co-operation. Annexed is t Testimony of Approval: Reeling that the statements set forth in the Prospectus to < Findens' Gallery of British Art* are its unison with OUT views of the subject, and believing, from the Specimens tve have seen, that it is calculated to diffuse, through the Medium of Line Engraving, a knowledge of the best Eng- modern Pictures, we cheerfully add our testimony of approbation." Another extraordina- ry Cure of lttieti- matic Gout, from Lincolnshire, com- municated bv Mr the Gènrra1 Agent for that County. (To Mr Trout, 229, Strand, Loudon.) Boston, April 2G, 1837. Sir,—Among the numerous instances which have come to mv knowledge of the beneficial effects produced by .the use of Blair's invaluable Gout and Rheumatic Pills, the following is so striking and so well authenti- cated, that (with permission of the parties) I send it to you for publication in anv way you may think proper. Mary Barton, of Bolingbroke, in this county, aged 67, I.ad been for twenty months afflicted in a violent degree with Rheumatic Gout. lIer joints were so swollen, and her fingers contracted and stiffened to such an extent, that she was una! lc to get into or out of bed, or even t,) dress or undress herself, without assistazice and so excruciating was the pain and agony she endured that sleep was to herself and husband almost a stranger. She despaired of relief, and much mote of a cure, deeming her case hopeless. A benevolent gentleman residing in the village, hearing of her afflicted condition visited her, and presented to her a box of B LA I WS PILLS, by taking half of which 3he w as greatly relieved. and two boxes completely restored her; so that from being an afflicted helpless cripple, she is now blithe and hearty, being able to perform all her household work ia a manner that suvprises her neighbours.' For tl)e triiih of these statements I have permission to refer (if by letter, post paid ) to W. E. Emmit, Esq, and Mr Thomas Brackeubury, Draperand Grocer, (Sub- agent for the sale of the Pills), both of Bolingbroke. Wishing health and long life to yourself. remain, Sir. your obediejit Servant, J. NOBLE, Agent at Boston." These Pills are taken without the least care or atten- tion. by either sex, young or. old, and have the peculiar property of entirely removing the disease without debilitating the frame, which is universally left in a stronger and better state than before the malady com- menced. And there is another most important effect belonging to this medicine—that it prevents the disease flying to the brain, stomach, or other vital part. Ask for Blair's Gout and Rheumatic Pills, and observe the name and address of Thomas Prout, 229, Strand, London," impressed oil the Government Stamp, affiixed to each Box of the Genuine Medicine.
